There were 4 of us, so we went for the advertised set dinner for 4 which included Crab meat with Fish-Maw Soup; Ginger Green Onions Crab on top of Fried Noodles; House Specialty Half Chicken; Salty Egg Yolk Shrimps Stir Fried Water Spinach with Fermented Bean Curds.Sounds good, right?First the server said we needed to pay extra for the crab because it was bigger(? .Then she said they didn’t have the advertised Water Spinach vegetable, and so will be replaced with lettuce instead. Of course we said no since that was not a fair substitution. We asked if we can have Chinese Broccoli instead, she said yes, but needed to pay extra again. When the soup arrived, she said the soup was for 6 people. So I asked if she was going to upcharge us even though we didn’t ask for the larger soup? When the rice came, it had some brown craps in it. We asked the waitress what was that in the rice. She said it was burned rice. I took a picture of the rice, see for yourself. We felt that there were a lot of Bait Switch going on. The staff/owner were being dishonest and provided poor services. We won’t go back again.
If you are in rush don’t go between 6-9pm. This is the second time we waited for the food for over an hour. We would understand it for one time short staff but we don’t have three hours to spend in the restaurant.Staff is rude and blame it on having too many customers—————————————-Lunch times they serve big portions and everyone seemed friendlier
This is an unbiased review. I happened to discover this location from my office about 3 months ago and have been going fairly regularly. The food is amazing but 1 thing worth mentioning is the fact that if you are not Asian(in my case, African), no one really pays attention to you especially during peak hours where you have to queue to get a table. I stood there for a good 15-20 minutes today waiting to get a table and then an Asian dude walks in with his daughter and gets ahead of me in getting a table even though it was obvious I was there first. I left the restaurant without having lunch or anyone approach me at all. This is actually the 3rd time this has happened including when I brought my family the first time to try the place out. We ended up going home after driving all the way from Airdrie. I will never go there again but it’s worth mentioning that the food is delicious and has a good portion as well.
The food at this restaurant was average, but the portions were large. When we went there for dinner, we had a mixed experience. The servers were not very helpful in explaining the dishes, as there were no pictures. When we decided to leave, they quickly convinced us to stay. Unfortunately, their English was difficult to understand and the specials were only written in Cantonese/Mandarin, which made it difficult for non-speakers to understand. As a Caucasian person, I felt out of place and unwelcome. I hope they make changes so that everyone can enjoy the restaurant and communicate more easily.
On August 7, we helped my daughter move to Calgary and planned to stay for a week to assist with setting up her apartment. The next day, we decided on Chinese food for dinner and a friend recommended a restaurant in Calgary. Upon entering, we were warmly greeted by a friendly hostess/server who promptly provided us with ice waters, beverage menus, and food menus. The server quickly took our drink order and returned promptly with them. We had questions about the menu items, and she was very helpful. We ordered Pineapple sweet and sour pork, Shanghai chow mein, honey garlic beef short ribs, Peking style pork, fried rice, and hot and sour soup. Despite being busy on a Tuesday night, our food arrived quickly and was hot and delicious. The meat was tender, and the hot and sour soup was the best I've ever had, not too spicy. The pineapple sweet and sour pork and Peking style pork were some of the best Asian meat dishes I've tasted. The portions were generous, and we took leftovers home for the next few days. The owner visited our table to ask how everything was, which was a nice touch. Overall, we gave it a 10/10 rating. Although we returned home, my daughter now living in Calgary will recommend the restaurant to her friends, and it will definitely be one of her favorite spots to eat.
