Great Chinese for about 45 years. It was so good to be part of the last couple days of their existence.Cheers to everyone involved, great work, great food.
I remember coming here as a kid with the family in the 80's. When I grew up I have taken my own family there a few times. When I heard it was closing we just had to go one last time. Everyone else had the same idea and if you didn't have reservations it was hard to get to. We had come just before the dinner rush so they said if we can finish in an hour they can fit us in. We said Yes!The decor inside is a little dated and the wait staff was running around ragged due to the demand. Hopefully, they made lots of money in the last 2 weeks. We ordered the Peking Style porkchops it's one of the best in town. We also ordered lobster with noodles in cream sauce delish! We rounded it out with fried rice, snow pea leaves, and clam in black bean sauce. Everything was so good.It was sad to think of them closing and all the great memories I had growing up in the city. But it was a great last meal. Thank you Golden Inn for so many years of great food. You will have a lasting legacy on me and the city.
My family has been going here since 1996, I’ve grown up, eating their food. They were the ones that taught me how to use chop sticks, and gave me a take out box full of fortune cookies and candies for my birthday. Now that I’ve grown up, I still visit this restaurant fairly often, with family. This was the go to place for Chinese food, and family events for us. Every single time, the food, and the service never disappointed us, in the 26 years we have visited. Yesterday, was our final visit. Though it was full of people like us, wanting to get their last bites of the unforgettable golden inn food, their service, taste, and efficiency was on par to the good ol days. Thank you guys, the team at golden inn, for working so hard, and all the good memories. Your Chinese food will always be unforgettable. And if the rumours are true, you guys take the well deserved retirement, and finally rest.
Old haunt closing for good. Lots of families, singles enjoying one last meal. Goodbye ?
This iconic restaurant has been in operation for over 45 years in Calgary's Chinatown. Its been the go to place after last call at licensed establishments for decades. Unfortunately, they will be closed permanently after August 27, 2022 so it's been packed for weeks with loyal customers wanting to get in one last meal. We were there tonight to bid a fond farewell and the Deep Fried Oysters and the Chicken and Creamed Corned soup (just a couple of our favorite dishes) tasted exactly the same as they did when we first tried them over 40 years ago. Thanks for the memories you will be missed!
