I had never tried Pho before so wanted to try it. Ordered seafood the other chicken pork, both very delicious, I’m hooked. Ordered the spring rolls, they will light airy, so good. Also ordered rice dishes and noodles dishes. Must say they were all awesome. When I’m back in Calgary I will definitely be back.
This place is so great. It's staff/owners are friendly and great. The food is made with love, and tastes so great. The place is a newer location for a Calgary classic.
Searched for a decent Pho place here in Calgary and Song Huong popped up, arrived at around on a Sunday, was busy and filled. Got our table after minutes, ordered Spring Roll as our first course, and then Pho for main, we...had the House Special and the Seafood Clear Noodle. I have to say Beef Pho is much much better then my Seafood Clear Noodle, as I recall, other Pho shops also has this but the noodles are much more translucent and had a bouncier texture. The one here is is very much like a regular Pho. But what I am not too satisfied with their version is that there is virtually no real seafood except the prawns, and the rest is the Fake Crab Meat. The broth has way too much MSG, too bad I ordered this instead of the Beef Pho or BBH, as I usually go for BBH. The Spring Roll is done very well and they used Rice Paper for the wrapping instead of Egg Roll Wrappers, this shows their authenticity, the dipping sauce is also well balanced and made the dish outstanding! I don't know if I will be back, but I still am very curious about their BBH!
I’m an avid Vietnamese food person. Always venturing out to try different local Vietnamese restaurants to see who set the standards high. Went to Calgary and tried this restaurant not too far from our hotel by the airport. Tried their ‘special’ bun no hue soup...noodles, the results were that it was too light of a flavour and missing that flavour. I also ordered their pork/shrimp tapioca dumplings and it contained more tapioca (starch) than the meat, which is fine, but the tapioca has no flavour and drown out the meat flavour. We had other dishes including chicken on rice and vermicelli bowl and nothing special about both. Customer was superb and friendly. The place was clean as well.
Song Huong has a huge loyal following. When it closed for over months to rennovate the current location, its Facebook and Instagram exploded with constant inquiries from its huge fan club. The food is consistently prepared and served well. It's fast, friendly service with...a smile. It always hits the spot.
