Sushi-Bar Miki was the best Sushi restaurant we found in the city, and, sadly, it closed it's doors end of March 2017. We had the privilege of attending an all-you-can-eat event on the second last night they were open with some close friends, and had a wonderful evening sampling some new items and enjoying old favorites. We are sad to know our favorite local sushi hub is gone, leaving a real gap in Calgary.
Brought my wife and son there for dinner based on reviews - and was totally disappointed.* Rice was mushy* Every different piece of fish tasted very fishy* Service was poor - We had one roll that we could not eat because its taste and texture was so bad. I mentioned it to the server and asked if they could bring a new one - and she said... "I am sorry, we used expensive fish in that one, we cannot replace it".* Price was expensive - but building was old, not updated, no child seat for our toddler, and no paper towels in the bathroom.* We will definitely never go back
Small and cozy place, good service and relaxing atmosphere and food was delicious. We tried some of the small and medium maki rolls with some sashimi and egg omelettes - all was delicious, looked good and was nicely rolled. Would go again.
This small, clean and pleasant restaurant is consistently excellent. The fish is always very fresh, and the selection is great.
As a west-coaster, I was GREATLY dissappointed by this restaurant. If you want an enjoyable, sushi experience do NOT come here. Over priced, rolls were uncreative, simple and not what I expected. Yam Tempura were cut THICK, thus raw in the middle. The spicy tuna roll was 85% green onion - 15% tuna, thus I was overpowered with a taste I did not enjoy. The Dynamite roll was rice:seaweed:prawn Temupra. THAT'S IT. No vegetables, sauce nothing. VERY DISAPPOINTED. I could not order a more elaborate roll, because ONE roll was 19$. For a place like this, that is very poor pricing.
