Very friendly from the get go, you are greeted, given a menu and your drink order taken quickly. What first attracted me to this place was its reasonably priced sushi. It used to be $1 for most sushi, but the price, like for everything else in Calgary, has risen over the years. Sushy or sashimi is now price anywhere from $1 to $2 depending on the item, still pretty reasonable I think.Of course, there are a whole lot of other things to have here, from soup to salad to noodle dishes to tempura, but we always go for the sushi. Our latest visit consisted of gyoza, 12 sushis, a sampler sashimi plate, 4 rolls and green tea for 3 of us. Boy, was it good! And, boy, where we stuffed.Total before tip was $75.My favourite sushi place right now in the southern quadrant of Calgary. there are 2 other locations in and around the city with the same name.
I ordered few plates of sushis during a business travel and I have to admit the food was very good : fresh, tasty, generous (quantity.) The delivery took about 40 min max, which is acceptable for the type of food. Because of all those benefits, the price is a little high, but it definitely worth it.
I was starving and the only one in the place, so grateful that the wait wasn't too long to get a couple of sushi rolls. The avocado roll was great but the yam tempura one wasn't - it was almost all batter with very little yam and most of the pieces fell apart when I tried to eat them.
I'm obsessed with sushi, I eat it at least once a week and i've been to many sushi restaurants; and Yume is easily in my top 5. Great value for money too. The sashimi was big, the sushi portions were great and service was really good.
This is a good resto with quality food, and good service. Like many Sushi restaurants, they like to creep the prices up, and the lunch specials are only viewable on the Take-out menu, so look at it when you are there at lunch. The place is a little dark and traditional, so my sweetie prefers other Sushi bars, but it's a solid choice in my mind. They have good signage, but it's still tucked away in Avenida.
