Food was over 30 minutes late, I called twice to find out where it was and was told it is on it's way and be with you in 2-3 minutes (I live 5 minutes away); the saag aloo and aloo gobi were VERY salty, bland and cold; the tandoori mixed grill was luke warm and lacking in flavour; the paratha was rubbery and tasted as if it had been re-heated; the chicken tikka balti and special biriani were OK if lacking in spice. I know my indian food and after a day out I was looking forward to a tasty Indian takeaway. The meal came to nearly £50 and I am so so disappointed.
My lamb was fine but my other half received cold uncooked samosas and a poor quality gristly chicken leg. We had to order from the chinese in the end as the food was inedible. Straight in the bin.
Avoid this place! I wish I had paid attention to the negative reviews. I ordered from here last Wednesday for the first and last time and ended up spending £35. I paid £6 for papadums, which were crushed to bits. The food arrived late and was completely cold. Everything was excessively greasy and oily. Their website states that you can get £5 off orders over £25 when paying in cash, but when I tried to use this offer, I was told it wasn’t valid, even though it's still advertised on their site.
Our little group affectionately refers to the Joy Balti as our second home. The food is expertly crafted, and the friendly, welcoming service is exceptional. With affordable takeaway prices and the option to bring your own drinks, it’s always a winning choice. Calne needs to support this fantastic establishment!
