From the outside, it may not look like much to the average passerby, but once inside, we were greeted by a friendly bartender and enjoyed drinks, a game of pool, and even tried our luck at some gambling. In the end, it was a relaxed and enjoyable spot to hang out.
The restaurant is quite empty most days. I think it could use some liveliness. However, every bartender I have encountered has been extremely kind and friendly.
Tonight, a friend took me out for a drink at a local establishment called Bullseye. When we arrived, I decided to play a slot machine and placed my purse on the chair next to me. After playing for a while, a man playing pool approached me and told me to move my purse because someone might want to sit there. Despite my attempts to accommodate his request, he insisted that I move it to the floor or my lap. When I placed it back on the chair, he aggressively claimed the seat was his and demanded that I leave. After a brief argument, I cashed out and confronted the man, who identified himself as the owner. Feeling discriminated against and unfairly treated, I left the bar and asked the bartenders for his name and position, which they confirmed. The owner's behavior was intimidating and aggressive, leading me to believe that my race played a factor in his treatment towards me. Upon further investigation, I discovered videos on the bar's Facebook profile showing individuals with belongings in chairs and a biker gang blocking the sidewalks and streets. It is clear that the establishment's policies cater to certain individuals while discriminating against others. I plan to address this issue with the City of Calumet City to ensure equal treatment for all patrons.
