The Riverside Center - Calumet-Norvelt

Where do i start... i totally understand that being a black owned business we mess up. But what i experienced was pure stupidity. I ordered a pork bacon egg and cheese bagel from them threw door dash, the food comes, I only have pork bacon, cheese and bagel, no egg... wtf. So i go up there to get my new sandwich and they literally put Turkey bacon on the sandwich egg and no cheese. At this point i don't even want the food. Jus make sure you are clear on what you want AND CHECK YOUR FOOD BEFORE YOU LEAVE!!!

Love love love Freshe Cafe and the Riverside center that houses it. The brunch, lunch and dinner meals always hit the spot. Veggie friendly with sides and black bean burgers. My personal fave is the jerk chicken and mac n cheese. There are almost always other pop-up vendors there and other events nearby.

Love this cafe! Been to it several times since it opened. It has good vegetarian options. The mac and cheese is delicious. I also enjoyed the black bean burger with two sides (green bean medley and potato salad). All fresh. They have drip coffee. On a hot day, they gladly gave me ice so I made my own iced coffee. The cafe has big bright windows that faces a park with beautiful landscaped flowers outside. It's a neighborhood gem.

I've had really good food from this spot and then I've had average food. I think they're a teaching institution so I've gone there more than once and didn't get frustrated. I've noticed that a lot of times when I order something via Uber eats it shows as being available but is not actually available to purchase. Just a note, but other than that definitely try this place!

The cabbage was terrible and mushy. The bbq sauce on the ribs was weird. The food looks nothing like what's posted on their Facebook page. Other than that, my food was good. I would eat there again if I were in the area but, I wouldn't go out of my way to return.
