The reviews here are over 2 years old and we couldn't identify with the previous comments. The food was very good and the staff very attentive and friendly. We shared some goats cheese spring rolls with a nice salad, followed by the best cheeseburger I...think I've ever had! My girlfriend went for chicken skewers which were also lovely. The portions were just right and we finished off sharing a small helping of the desserts on offer with coffee. Delicious! Unfortunately we tried this place near the end of our stay but had we found it sooner we would have eaten here more. It's on the Porto Road out near the Citadale. The food was good and better than in most places we had eaten in in the centre of Calvi.
We went there in the beginning of August, got a table outdoors and some young and charming waitresses tended to our table, nothing wrong up to that point. Appetizers were ok, nothing exceptional, the wine, a rose from the area, was ok too, then came...the big bummer, calamari a la Calvi, basically completely overcooked rings of calamari, perhaps even from a can, surrounded by tomato paste and pesto, all from a can, plus one slice of a raw tomato. It was so disgusting my wife and I stopped about halfway through. The cheese we got afterward was a goat cheese of no particular interest. After the dinner we talked to the lady manager what kind of main course this was supposed to be, but she was not very receptive to complaints or suggestions (ours was: get rid of this dish) although we speak fluent French and she certainly understood our line of thought. We had to have a few stiff drinks to flush down the disgusting taste in our throats in a bar downtown and we vowed never to set foot in this restaurant again.
Food here was good, and reasonably priced. Mussels were exceptionally good value, at €10 or so, and the wild boar was tasty and good. the service was charming, if a little slow at times. This was the only place we ate twice, and would say...that it was particularly good for Calvi, which has many over priced restaurnts. The position, below the bastion, in a shady area was appealing. I don; 't think that you can go wrong here.
The people who work there are very nice. we have eaten a very good risotto with huge prawns, cameer that I think they called it. the part was big and the service was quite fast
