I've been wanting to try it for a long time, and this was the first place I've seen it on the menu, so I had to go for it, and I'm so glad I did. It was crunchy, fresh, and zesty—the perfect appetizer. For our main courses, I ordered paneer in saffron sauce (though I can't recall the exact name) and my boyfriend had the chicken tikka. Both dishes came in generous portions and were packed with flavor and spice. The creamy sauces paired wonderfully with white rice and garlic naan, making for a perfect meal. The prices were great overall, and the service was friendly and attentive. There was also plenty of parking available in the large shopping lot. I just wish this place was closer to home, but it's definitely worth a visit, and I can’t wait to return!
If there's one thing British people are familiar with, it's Indian cuisine, and without a doubt, this is THE best Indian restaurant in our area. We live in Carpinteria and are willing to drive all the way to Camarillo just to dine here. The family that runs the restaurant is incredibly hospitable and friendly. We've been patrons since 2009, and they always greet us with warm smiles and a welcoming "welcome back."
Authentic and delicious. I haven't had great Indian food in a long time since living in Stockton, CA. There are a lot of mom and pop shops there and I was delighted to find Cafe India which far exceeded my expectations. The Tikka Masala and the Butter Chicken were delicious. The spice was perfect and the sauce was so so creamy. The garlic naan is also a must order. Loved this place. Will definitely be back.
First time having having cafe India and I was quite impressed. Tried a little bit of everything and favored the chicken tiki Marsala, BBQ chicken and vegetable fritter. We did the lunch buffet and was the most bang for the buck. For 10 bucks it was hard to beat. Only downside is that the food stand would run out of food but it happens. Overall would go back anytime.
Price: Lunch buffet: $10/per person Chai tea: $2 Customer service: We were promptly seated but people's review regarding the manager was correct. He doesn't smile or really acknowledge you at all. He places the food down on your table and walks away without making any eye contact or smile or small talk. Maybe it's cultural? Food: A bit salty for my taste but the garlic naan came out after I had my food so maybe I should have waited. Because it was a lunch buffet, like many places, food is warm but not hot as you can imagine it was made many hrs earlier. This brought down the taste and value of the food. Ambience: They have these cute booths for you to sit in, very comfy! Could probably seat 4-5 medium sized people. No music which was fine with me. Clean which is definately a plus! Overall, three stars because it was good but not great. Food was average but if I'm in the area, I may stop by again :
