Gatsby's Chicken - Camberwell

Ordered a take away chicken with chips and salad recently by phone. The order was ready within 10 minutes and the service was very pleasant. Well presented shop. The chicken was nicely basted but was slightly overcooked and dry. The chips were good but the salad was disappointing. All four of us sharing this meal had the same opinion. The shop is located near the corner of Toorak Rd and Warrigal Rd which makes parking nearby difficult at peak times. Overall not as good as expected given previous rave reviews. Not sure that we will try it again!

Blake and his mum do a wonderful job of South African inspired chicken and salads! Plenty to choose from and always fresh and delicious! A sample of a gatsby's roll is a must! Get down there for a top feed at very good value!

The guy that owns this little gem is lovely, he has the cutest little brother who also helps out, I love a good old family business. Moving on, the chicken is exceptional slowly cooked, REAL chicken not random chicken parts, it is marinated over night, hold up! This is literally the best chicken I have ever had, I will crave this for the rest of my life, thank you for firstly being lovely, not half arsing anything, you take pride in what you do and you can see that, you are not ordinary you are extraordinary. Support an establishment based on quality, your taste buds will appreciate you for it.

This is not your regular charcoal chicken take away shop. They make everything from scratch, from the salad, the sauces and the spices that they marinate the chicken with. The chicken is also grilled similarly like the Nando's but better and consistent, so no burned bits. Highly recommend their signature roll - Gatsby roll. If it's too much, try the Open Gatsby (same ingredients but without the roll).

Gatsby's Chicken is a flavour explosion in your mouth! The Gatsby Roll, personally made by the brothers who own the store, is a must try! Have it in a roll or open on the plate, but my favourite is chips, chicken, salad (coleslaw and tabbouleh are great together!) and home made sauce to top it off all, together in a fresh roll. The chimmichurri, mild sauce and garlic- not your traditional garlic but a delicious variation- are excellent on the roll. And if you like it hot, there hot sauce is mind blowing! If you are looking for your new favourite chicken shop, come to Gatsby's! You won't be disappointed! The flavour combinations are like nothing you've tried. They also cater for families with dinner packs and catering available. Gatsby's brings the South African Gatsby Roll to Australia and is definitely the best chicken I have ever tasted. Thank you to the boys from Gatsby's, Blake and Cameron, for creating the best Chip roll in Melbourne! Quality ingredients and excellent service- I highly recommend you get down to Gatsby's!!
