Golden Crown Chinese Takeaway

Good service, food not so good salt and pepper ribs not as described instead of small pieces we got these large ribs that were more fat than meat, no heat either, Singapore noodles again no heat very little meat and prawns also very oily, we used use these guys regularly can't believe how poor the usually great food was, will thing twice before using again.

I was staying at a hotel during the pandemic and there weren't many dining options available. I decided to order a takeaway for delivery and requested that they notify the hotel reception to call my room number since there was no phone reception. They followed through with my request, and to my delight, the food arrived hot and tasty. The delivery person was also wearing a mask, which was reassuring. I was pleasantly surprised by the overall experience.

Ordered from here on a few occasions. Always delicious. Friendly staff. Very clean kitchen. Delivery guys charming. Worth a try.

We ordered off Just Eat and the order accepted immediately from the Golden Crown, and 20 minutes later we got a text telling us our food was on it 's away. Just Eat included a 1 pound delivery fee which we paid online. After the confirmation that the food was on it 's way, I received a very strange phone call from someone telling me to .ca the restaurant directly. I asked why I needed to call, why the restaurant itself wasn 't calling me if there was any issue, and what was the issue- was my food still coming? He told me that he couldn 't answer any of these questions and that it was his boss who needed 'urgently ' to speak to me! He couldn 't even tell me the phone number of the restaurant- what a rude and pointless call. I was worried and looked up the restaurants number and then had the worst customer experience of my life. The 'boss ' woman, who said her name was Lee (although she hesitated to tell me, so she may have been lying) demanded I pay an extra 3 pounds for delivery because we were further out than they normally go. I told her I already paid in full including a delivery fee and there was no mention on Just Eat of this extra fee. She just continued to insist and got extremely rude about the whole issue. A really offputting experience for many reasons! And super dodgy with the phone calls from different people. When the food arrived, about 20 minutes later than it should have taken for a 5 mile drive not in rush hour, it was the worst take away food we have ever had in Cambridge. The sweet and sour chicken balls were completely limp and wet with grease- the batter was soggy! The pad thaibnoodles were also strangely really soggy and tasted not at all of pad thai, but a really poor excuse for a chow mein. And the chicken satay was pure fat with a very watery sauce which really couldn 't be classified as a peanut sauce. So we ended u0 throwing out most of this food that we waited a long time for and got harassed about paying extra for, after a very dodgy phone call experience. Never again!

I was pleasantly surprised by this restaurant. The food was delicious and served hot. The prices were fair. I have visited multiple times since. I highly recommend trying it out, as they are very good and a local favorite.
