Came here on Easter Sunday, so it was extra busy.Personal preference of noodle sauce aside, the noodles I ordered is subpar. I waited about 40 mins, received my order way after other tables who sat after me. That is all okay, but you cannot call this 刀削面。 the noodles varies in size, length, thickness way too much for it to be called a particular noodle. It looks like it’s odd bits and pieces from the bottom of the pot. The noodles came out over cooked, and the smaller pieces were mushy, might as well be a porridge.
My favourite hand pulled noodle place in the downtown core (ive tried alot of them). I like the taste, and the local/homey feel of the restaurant personally. The staff are a little innatentive, and dont refill my glass of water at all (which is very small) unless i flag them down. And tables are also a little cramped. To be honest, if youre looking for a place to have a fine dining experience, or a place to impress friends this is not the right spot at all. However, If youre looking for a quiet local joint to have some noodles in peace, this place is better than most. Also portions are good and prices are fair.
Unctuous beef noodle soup with handmade noodlesThis restaurant recently came onto my radar from various recommendations online (e.g. r/foodtoronto). We ordered the traditional beef noodle soup, the vegetable soup, and sides of tofu teppenyaki skewers and broccoli/buk choy. Everything was delicious! The broth was more fragrant than I was expecting, which was very appealing to me. The noodles also had a nice snap to them.We were very satisfied and will definitely come back!
The place is always packed, food is delicious but service is slow.
