Saigon - Canberra

The Saigon Restaurant at Pearce Shops has been a popular choice for families in South Canberra for a while. Along with Ramas and Ethiopian Down Under, it is one of the eateries that offer outdoor seating on a lovely paved area, perfect for enjoying a casual meal on a warm evening.

Msg with a lateral order of food. horrendous. I don't know how this restaurant is still trading. some of the worst eat all the time. we ordered calamari with lemongrass and chilli, karamalised pork and king prawns with snowbsen and cashews the only difference in the sauces between the directed was a tiny addition of fragile crumbs. the msg and the sugar content have certainly not sworn, 2 hours later and my mouth is still burning out of the oversalted eating. it would also have been nice if the waitress stopped boasting dissatisfied at my 16-month daughter. I will never return there, even if it was free.

This restaurant is satisfying and affordable. My family and I have been coming here for years for various occasions. Despite the unconventional decor, including red vinyl tablecloths, plastic bonsai trees, and mismatched art, we keep coming back for the food. The vegetables are always fresh and perfectly cooked, especially the mixed vegetables which I often dream about. The atmosphere is casual and you can even bring your own soft drinks. This place is labeled as a restaurant, but it doesn't feel like it. Dining out in Canberra can be expensive, but at Saigon, you can get a main dish for around $12. Overall, a great spot for a satisfying meal without breaking the bank.

Oh no! The restaurant has been open since 1980! I've been coming here since I was 8 years old and still haven't had a bad meal. I've been a regular since around 1978 and every meal has been amazing. My favorite dish is the seafood combination satay.
