It is a bonus if one can eat well in one's hotel and relax. For years the dining was simple but cleanly executed French/provencal classic, by different chefs. This year the new chef is advertised as imaginative, novel (oh... . Dishes were strange combinations of flavour, tending to the clunky, and three very different palates all found at least one dish of 2 or 3 disappointing, or worse. Waiters, wine list remain very good.
I would like to class this restaurant between average and very good. It is a very French style restaurant, meaning that potatoes were rarely served, and almost always only with the fish, and the vegetables often made into purées ... with some very bizarre mixtures. We had chosen demi-pension for our 5 night stay, and by the end of our time, even I was somewhat bored with the similar though albeit slightly changing menus. There was almost always too much meat fish in proportion to the accompanying vegetables ... the balance was just wrong. There was also a rather limited choice of dishes. Our first night happened to be the buffet which I loved, but which was less satisfactory for my husband, who does not eat seafood, or much salad, and there was much of both and not much else on the starter buffet. This also happened to be the only time we ate on the terrace itself, as all the other nights were too cold for us (not a fault of the restaurant, but a shame even so! . Service was on the whole, excellent, with some exceptions, the wine overpriced as is normal, and I would have liked a wider choice of local wines. We were also disappointed that the outside restaurant, L'effet mer, only served at lunchtime, and was not available on demi-pension, as the type of food offered much more suited our tastes and palates. The food itself was reputedly of high quality, but I have certainly had better choices elsewhere and eaten just as well elsewhere too.
The spa is excellent, avoid the restaurant, the staff (except for Valentine who was adorable is unpleasant specifically the Maître D (Mathieu who “unwelcomes” you at the entrance of the restaurant. We waited for ever to be served, received our entree 1:30 after being seated when I told our host (Mathieu he said; “I am not in the Kitchen”
Had a few lunches here now ,food always great, service is always very professional ,can be a bit expensive, but worth it for that special treat
As we were staying at the hotel with half board this was the place to have our dinner. We found everything to be OK very friendly staff and good food. Rather good value for the total price of our stay.
