It was clean and the washrooms were also very well done and clean. The staff were wonderful and the service was very good. Our first course was Chef's Amuse bouche with a berry sling cocktail. Both were very good.Second course was a Belgian Endive Salad or soup - Roasted Kabocha Pumpkin puree and we ordered one of each and shared. The soup was to die for! Wine was a pinot grigio and sauvignon blanc. The third course was the palate cleanser and was a mulled black berry buttermilk sorbet which was delicious. Wine was a sparkling Freixenet Carta Nevada. For the fourth course choices were either pan seared Arctic Char with fingerling potatoes, cherry tomato confit, creamy leak nage or Sterling Silver Pork Tenderloin with root vegetable pave, asparagus au gratin, pickled mustard seed, horseradish demi. Again, we ordered one of each and shared. Both were absolutely delicious and the presentation of all courses was first class. Wines with this course were Torres Ibericos Rioja and Chateau Trillol. The final course (and we were stuffed already!) was a dark chocolate Marquee - single origin Valhrona Chocolate from Ecuador, hazelnut craquelin, warm Gran Marnier white chocolate cream. OMG, even for non-chocolate lovers such as ourselves, this dessert was extremely good. We shared one and took the other home! The beverage for this course was Café Royal but because we don't drink coffee, the excellent server served us Gran Marnier which was very much appreciated.Overall, I highly recommend you visit this restaurant. The Groupon is a great deal and there is no way that we would've received the same caliber of food, service and wine anywhere else for $129 for two.
We chose Habitat for our special dining experience based on the recent reviews. We both felt that the restaurant did not measure up to the hype. Parking was difficult to find and a chilly, long walk away. This restaurant is crammed into a little corner of a hotel with no available parking for non-hotel patrons. The food actually tasted good and was very nicely prepared...so long as you are not sensitive to MSG. We both had strong reactions that took a whole night and day from which to recover...an indication of more than just a little MSG!The service was disappointing, especially given the price point. It was actually the little things: food unceremoniously dropped off at our table as the server ran off, luke warm tea water, difficulty communicating with our server, dessert spoons dropped onto the table by hand after the dessert. None of this is life altering, and it certainly sounds like a first world rant; I'm simply saying that, for the price, we expected a more refined experience. Not sleeping because of the MSG was definitely the worst part of the experience. If we had not been poisoned by the unnecessary addition of MSG, we would have found the rest of the experience more of an adventure than a problem.
We purchased a groupon for this restaurant. Great date night. We had the 5 course meal. Amazing and very interesting flavours. Service was great. Music was too loud and definitely didn't match the feel of the restaurant. Unsure if I would return without a deal as the prices were a little too steep for my budget but glad to have tried it.
First off, this restaurant is gorgeous! You will be impressed when you walk in. Going there with two 8 month old babies was a little intimidating as it appears very upscale, however our waitress and the manager were so friendly and helpful while we were there. They kept asking if the girls needed anything and made us feel very welcome and comfortable. The menu is impressive and you can't go wrong with any choice you'll make. I was able to try a few appetizers and mains and they were all delicious. Service was a touch on the long side, however nothing too long. It is a relaxing romantic atmosphere. We enjoyed everything about our dining experience. You can't go wrong if you're staying at the Grande Rockies Resort as it is a great option to not have to leave the resort.
Chateaubriand for was lovely perfectly prepared, generous portion, more than enough storage beans, fingerling potatoes, etc. Béarnaise and au jus were a nice addition but unnecessary .The creme brûlée arrives in a very large bowl but it was very good. Our server was just right, attentive without being hovering, on Saturday evening. There was a wedding going on in another dining room and a large family party behind us so it may have been noisier than usual
