There’s no better advertisement than aroma for a Korean barbeque restaurant. I discovered Jang Tur Charcoal B.B.Q. when I was in Canterbury reviewing Bon Japanese Restaurant. The heady aroma of barbequed meat stayed with me for six months, so we eventually found our way back to Canterbury to give it a whirl. The front entrance on Canterbury Road is in a state of disrepair. Gold window tint gives the interior an otherworldly feel as we peer inside before entering through the heavy door. Locals in the know seem to use a back lane entrance that takes you down a dimly lit side passage from somewhere near the Aldi carpark. I mentally note it down for next time... We’re directed to a table that’s been constructed by laying a round stainless steel tabletop over a red metal drum. In the centre it has a recessed charcoal grill that’s quickly filled with a pot of hot coals, then topped with a thick wire grill. The room is...
This Korean BBQ restaurant is authentic and low-key with a good old-fashioned vibe. The decor may be a bit shabby, but the service is great and the marinated meats are delicious. The atmosphere feels like a home-cooked meal in Korea from a bygone era. Be prepared to eat around barrels, adding to the charm of this hidden gem.
One of my all time favourite KBBQ places. It has a very cosy atmosphere as it is a family run business. They offer one free egg soup and can I just say it is one of the best egg soups I've ever had. Of course one is not enough so you'd have to order extra if you're eating with other people! I brought my boyfriend here and he enjoyed it very much compared to his experiences at KBBQ buffets. Highly recommend you to try this place out!! The serving portions may seem small but don't be deceived it will really fill you up. I also think the prices here are reasonable. A must try if you want an authentic KBBQ experience.
This Korean BBQ restaurant is a very nice and casual spot. I have been dining here for over 10 years because I am family friends with the owners. I absolutely love the whole dining experience at this place. The seating consists of barrel tables, which are great for socializing, and you get to grill your meat on Korean oak charcoal. It reminds me of some of the old BBQ places you would find in Seoul. I highly recommend ordering the marinated beef ribs and pork belly. You can dip the meat in Korean sesame oil or wrap them ssam style with garlic, chilies, and veggies. Don't miss out on the egg stew, soon tofu stew, and bean stew with steamed rice. These dishes are some of the best you will find in Sydney. The cooks have truly mastered the recipes for these dishes.
