If we are somewhere to breakfast or a afternoon tea in canterbury with our children, the refectory is always our first choice...big eating, friendly and welcoming staff. definitiw the best of the (each growing number) indie cafes and lunch in the city.
Amazing caffe! eating is excellent and service is exceptional. order the buttermilk pancakes and a deluxe hot chocolate both tasted super. perfect dog friendly too. but it is not in the position to book so that there is an easy wait for a table depending on how busy it is, although eating it is worth it would go again!
My experience in the refugee kitchen this morning was very satisfactory! this place is known as the best place to breakfast in canterbury. they pay for the deliciousness. there are outside seats with room heating and cover for customers. the restaurant bookings not so that it comes first serve first and people often wait happy to take place. good luck!
We went to Canterbury for the weekend and was on the hunt for a good brunch place. The Refectory Kitchen had good reviews so we decided to stop by and OMG we are so glad we did! Without a doubt the best French Toast I have ever eaten! Topped with strawberries, lemon syrup and an insanely delicious whipped vanilla cheesecake cream My husband had the Grill up which he thoroughly enjoyed and the hash brown and bacon butter fried bread was incredible! We had to wait about 15mins for a table (totally worth it) but for peak time on a Saturday it's to be expected. I'm just sad that I cant go back every week...might have to move to Kent! Lol
