I inquired about the items that mentioned "cream," and I think he misunderstood because he responded by saying it was "his milk." I ordered the "onion bhaji," and he customized it to remove any dairy. It turned out to be really delicious and a generous portion. I would definitely return for the relaxed atmosphere and tasty food, but it would be great if there were a few more dedicated vegan options and if the chef had a better understanding of the difference between veganism and vegetarianism.
When I inquired about vegan options on the menu, the chef mentioned that everything was suitable for vegans. However, I asked about items listed as containing "cream" and it seemed there was some confusion. I suspect he thought "vegan" meant "vegetarian" because when I asked if the cream was dairy, he replied that it was his milk. I clarified and learned the milk was from cows. Eventually, I discovered options that contained neither cow’s milk nor eggs. I ordered the "onion baggee," and the chef was accommodating enough to prepare it without egg. It was truly delicious and a generous portion too. I would definitely return for the relaxed atmosphere and tasty food, but it would be beneficial if there were more clearly defined vegan options and if the chef had a better understanding of the distinction between vegan and vegetarian diets.
