Northern Outdoors - Caratunk

Recently had the pleasure of spending a couple of nights at the Northern Outdoors campground with some good friends of mine. From the moment we stepped into the lodge to when we left it, every staff person there was notably accommodating and kind. The food was very good, the campground was well-maintained and organized, and the setting was impeccable. I also had the pleasure of taking a whitewater trip down the Kennebec through one of the services they offer there, and it could not have been a better experience from start to finish, from 7am all the way to 2:30pm. I also cannot overstate how great all the guides were, with clear and obvious enthusiasm and joy throughout. I would be remiss if I did not make special mention of the guide my group was situated with, Victor, a 24-year veteran of whitewater rafting at the Northern Outdoors with an impeccable sense of humor, obvious passion for what he does, and clearly just a great guy to raft with. All in all, it was an incredible experience and I will hold it as a cherished memory, and I thank all the staff at Northern Outdoors for the role they played in it. The full day rafting trip was awesome, as well as the lunch that was prepared. Our guide Grace was excellent. The resort was very nice with great amenities. We stayed in a logdominium which was very nice and perfectly located. We arrived around 8:00 at night and was looking forward to having dinner but the kitchen was closing at 9:00 so we were not able to have dinner. Please make sure to eat before you get there if you are arriving late or bring food with you. Other than not being able to have dinner on arrival night , we had a blast and will do it again.

Spent a long weekend in the campground had very large spacious tenting campsites right on the river which was wonderful! Float trip on Saturday was super fun our guide, Leah, was so helpful and kind. She gave clear instructions on where to get out and made sure we had everything that we needed. Moxie Falls was totally rushing which was awesome to see! Kids really enjoyed the pool and arcade and we all enjoyed the hot tub. Had a good meal at the brewpub and great drinks, of course! Only suggestion is to pay closer attention to the shower house facilities in the campground. A few stalls were out of tp for more than a day, and it looked like they could have used a cleaning. Otherwise a great stay; we'll definitely be back!

Fabulous day on the Kennebec (5K).The entire team was great from start to finish with special shoutout to our guide, Molly, who was a true professional and really made our day a fun and memorable one. The BBQ on the River was very good (you will not go away hungry). Highly recommend Northern Outdoors and look forward to another trip In the future. Rooms: 4
