Blue Jay Kitchen - Cardiff

The restaurant itself was quite quiet for a Saturday night, but we were there early (6ish) so maybe that's why? There is a lot of variety on the menu and everyone enjoyed what they had, what a table of 13 is quite impressive. The service was not very fast and we decided to go to the bar for drinks. The booking by the fork gives a 20% discount that they do not know, but cancel the bill, but it removes all the fixed prices that the tapas fall under so instead the tapas of the 20% that they charged full price that is quite much more expensive. The online menu also differs from the fees, so take different from the printed menu that has worked out what everyone owed a little more complicated. I sent a message about the bill the day after and although it was read, it was not answered to which a little disappointing customer service is wise.

As soon as we arrived, the waiter made us feel unwelcome and then took 5-10 minutes to bring us the menus. He then informed us that the establishment is a bar and kitchen for patrons over 19, but is still family-friendly. I, being 18, was surprised and frustrated as I have never encountered such a policy in a pub before. There were no signs or clear indications of this rule.

The restaurant was pleasant, with friendly staff and fresh, tasty food. However, the service was a bit slow as we waited over 40 minutes for our desserts. The Treacle sponge, consisting of two small pieces of sponge with ice cream, was worth the price of 6.50. Unfortunately, the water we ordered never arrived after our meal. Overall, the service could be improved, but the food was enjoyable.

The food is amazing! Only a single problem, plates were cold, so the food would have warmed longer if they had been heated. Maybe the cook could start improving the experience. ? Good varied menu.

I love the food at this restaurant, it is so diverse and well-cooked. The service is a bit slow and they could use more staff when it's busy, but I will definitely come back again and again for this delicious food.
