Feedback gevenPre-theatre dinner reservation. Had to wait to be seated. Understaffed. Long wait for drinks, only receiving them after complaining. Another long wait for food. ANOTHER COMPLAINT. Was offered free drinks that never arrived. Finally received our meals. Lamb shank was cold and the Hunters chicken was just about warm. ANOTHER COMPLAINT. Was offered a discount on our bill which we turned down and left without paying. Witnessed other diners complaining about cold food and slow service. Also witnessed diners leaving as they hadn’t been served. At the end of the day, if Henry’s cannot cope with the amount of bookings for a pre-theatre dinner service, then they should turn down bookings, it’s better to have a half full restaurant with happy diners than a full restaurant with unhappy diners. The staff also need more support with extra staff on duty at busy times. I’m not sure if the place is under new management but if it is then they’re not doing a great job. Henry’s has been in that same spot for well over 30 years and the pre-theatre dinner service after that long should be a beeeze. I certainly would not recommend this place to anyone now and shall not be returning anytime soon which is a shame.
Reserved a table for 6pm as we were seeing a show at 7.30 so gave us 1.5 hours for food before the show. Turned up they couldn’t find my reservation so showed them the confirmation email. Found us a table, sat down waited 25 min before we even got a menu. Ordered drinks and food eventually, both of us wanted steak but they had sold out so ordered something else. Waited another 15 mins for the drinks! People had been waiting ages for food and all complaining, I asked the waiter how long food would be as we had a show to go to and already been sat at our table around 40 mins and only just ordered the food as service was so slow with the waiter coming over to be told at least 45 mins!!! So ended up leaving as wouldn’t be enough time. So went away disappointed and hungry with not enough time to find somewhere else to eat in time before the show. Terrible experience and will lot be returning or recommending this place to anyone!
Went Henry's on Valentine Day with my wife for food before the show in the New Theatre. Had ribeye steak and a bottle of red in the Valetines offer £45. The steaks were lovely and so was the wine. Andrew was our waiter who was friendly and efficient. Lovely experience. Definitely recommend.
We haven't been to Henry's since finishing work in the city centre. The food and staff, especially Julie, was first class. The table service was attentive. Never felt rushed. Would recommend to anyone. We will be back.
Decided to pop in with my wife for dinner a few weeks ago, while away in Cardiff for the weekend. From the start... the only unoccupied table we found for ourselves had to be cleared, had to find menus myself. At no stage did any staff come to us, so after about 20 minutes of a wait, I went to the bar and asked for someone to please come take our order another 25 minutes later someone finally came to take our order and to clear the table. Half an hour later, though it could have taken longer I honestly lost the will to keep checking the time the food finally arrived. It was mostly cold and inedible. I would have added some salt/pepper/ketchup to it to add some flavour but none was provided once again I had to go find some myself. We'll definitely be back in Cardiff but not here.
