A couple of light bulbs were blown and should have been changed. The staff, who were quite friendly and obliging, said they were waiting for the owner to replace them. Food was mediocre and coffee was tepid. Will not return.
Visited for brunch. The alternative was coffee club but decided to try this one.Service was slow . The avocado and feta cheese on sourdough was not what Jen expected. The bread was sliced and toasted bread. Avocado was spread rather thinly. Feta cheese lightly sprinkled on top. We've had this meal at several other branches of Shingle Inn and the experience there was much different. Our decision is not to return to this particular place.
Was at the Shingle Inn with friends - not sure why they picked the place. It's overpriced and so pretentious - one of my pet hates.Yes the decor and the name make it more extravagant and 'decadent' as they like to call it and it reflects also in the menu - not to mention the price!I started with a salmon benedict - $21 for 2 slices of wholegrain/rye toast with a few slices of salmon topped with eggs that were hardly poached right??? Not sure where places like this get away with charging - oh wait the extravagant also applies to prices. Yes I see! It wasn't the worst tasting benedict I've had just really really plain and overpriced.I then decided to give them a chance to redeem themselves and tried a chicken crepe at $16. What was this? A lasagne? I couldn't really taste the 'crepe' element but maybe they use crepe layers - either way I couldn't really tell with chilled preprepared product. The quantity was again tiny with the smallest serving of salads I've seen for quite some time - have a look at the picture (those are average sized forks and knives you figure it out) but I was starting to wonder if I was suddenly at a tapas bar.The service was really slow, even for preprepared foods. The line was about 4-6 people back, this really wasn't appropriate for the shingle inn brand. Staff didn't have the best attitude and basically appeared like they couldn't care less or were under trained / under paid.At these sort of prices and quantity, it's really not worth it fellow members. Spend your money elsewhere is what I'd do. Many other cafes which serve better foods at better prices at Carindale Westfields.
Thankfully the Shingle Inn Sunnybank is far superior in many ways to that of Carindale !! My daughter took me to Shingle for coffee prior to seeing a movie . The location is perfect , the staff were most helpful ,and most importantly the coffee and little cakes were fresh . I will go back when I get the chance before Christmas ...
Service average. Food is terrible and over priced with not a lot of taste to it. Coffee disgusting and over priced! Coffee was so bitter I couldn't enjoy it at all and it cost me $6!
