While it may seem odd to go out to eat only to cook your own meal, the experience at this restaurant was definitely worth it. We opted for the Shabu-shabu meal, where cooking our own food was the highlight of our visit. The menu offered a variety of meat, seafood, and vegetarian options to choose from. The vegetables were fresh and flavorful, and the portion of meat provided was sufficient. We left feeling satisfied with the amount of food we had. The beverage selection was impressive, featuring local and Asian soft drinks, wines, and beers. The staff were friendly and checked on us multiple times to ensure we were enjoying our meal. The restaurant was spacious, although there were only a few other tables occupied on the Saturday night we visited (it may be busier on weekdays). Overall, we had a delightful cooking experience that resulted in a tasty meal and left us feeling content. We would definitely return to this restaurant.
Antarctic Circle in Underwood offers Japanese Shabu Shabu and Stone Grill meals at a reasonable price. For those unfamiliar, Shabu Shabu is similar to Chinese hot pot, where you select your own vegetables and meats to cook at your table in a bubbling broth over a hotplate. This restaurant provides options such as Wagyu beef, marbled Wagyu beef, chicken, lamb, pork, or seafood for Shabu Shabu for around $20, including vegetables, beef, fishballs, and shrimp. You can also choose from different types of broth, like Chinese herbal or Kimchi soup, for an additional $3. The Stone Grill meals are entertaining to observe as well, allowing you to cook your own salmon, beef, lamb, or chicken in your preferred style - whether it be medium rare or well done. Antarctic Circle prides itself on not using additives or MSG in its dishes. The service is satisfactory and the restaurant is an ideal spot for large group gatherings. The only downside I found was that the floor tiles can be very slippery, so be sure to wear shoes with good traction, especially in rainy weather.
The restaurant offers a large hot pot and stays open late. The service is outstanding.
