Carindale Hotel

Just in the last 12 months or so we have become semi-regulars to the pub for meals at lunch or dinner. We appreciate the variety of menu items and the food seems to now be consistently good quality. Prices are average for the area, not much higher than local clubs, but the quality is higher. The staff are generally good, some more friendly than others and could be better. We’ve found that if busy, order meals by the phone app but get the drinks directly from the bar.

Started by being lead to a dirty table. Beer food marks all over it. Not cleaned properly. Ordered a beer. Service slow. Beer flat. Ordered a different beer, again flat. Went onto coke. Food not too bad. The grill was around $10 over priced, mains $5-7 overpriced. A ear piercing screeching nose from the escalator near by. There was no one there. I know why. Don’t bother!

We have visited the Carindale Hotel gaming room twice this week. (We reside on the Gold Coast) The staff are wonderful .They welcome you and genuinely make the experience special. Ally (Thursday) is such a hard worker and does this with a smile on her face! Please congratulate her on behalf of us as it is rare to see such great customer service. We are members of Star Casino and have been for years. Staff never recognise us or say hello when signing in. They have no idea of customer service. Plus the snacks you serve are beautiful and plentiful. (Unlike the cold, greasy snacks we get at Star.

Gone are the days you can find a tasty and low priced counter lunch. However if pubs want to charge restaurant prices they need to deliver, My chicken schnitzel was dry and tough. I could not complain about the quantity and size of the meal. The shopping centre's parking fees are also an unwelcome trap if you inadvertently stay too long.

On Saturday evening, the restaurant was very busy but that's no excuse. We ordered four steaks - one was supposed to be medium rare but came out medium, one medium rare was very rare, one medium well was actually medium. Finally, the medium well steak arrived very red and had to be sent back twice before it was cooked correctly. We were disappointed that the steak had to be prepared three times before being served correctly. We won't be returning anytime soon.
