Great food! Just got annoyed about the wrong price are not written on the menu. I didn't like how got handle the situation from the manager. The menu is
This is a great brunch spot for the weekend We met some wonderful friends on a Sunday morning and had no trouble getting a table for 5.
This kitschy little cafe gives out deformed toys instead of table numbers and has a playlist that would make you think the '80s aren't dead.
TL;DR: Again, I present the case for how Japanese food has become the top cuisine. Even at the lowliest of venues, a maximum level of quality and dedication is a must. Value for money was present, and the cooks served up a filling portion, along with all the minutiae that do not go unappreciated. A modest little flower that is no shrinking violet, Coorparoo's Oshii Sushi Express proves that all the trendy places cannot leave what has worked for so long in the dust. The majority of what is necessary for this part is to deliver on what they promise, be good at it, plus have good value. While this formula will likely never break ground or even set the bar for pole vaulting, you never muck with something that works so well. It was getting onto Wrestlemania weekend and WWE for going all out. Since crowds were coming back, the company went full steam with a double bill of two-day events for this year. Since the weekend also included their minor brother division NXT hosting a TakeOver over two days with a rest break between the grand event. At the time, I needed to watch the spending somewhat yet wanted to make the time special. The contention I had was to keep the first day calm and go for it on the second day. Ideas may have changed afterwards, but at the time, I wanted to keep it more modest to offset the way I know how to celebrate the Big Four events. Japanese cuisine, how I love thee one of the main reasons is because I can get a fair bit without breaking the bank too much in these times. That was likely in the back of my head, that degree of reliability. But ultimately, I go in with something of an open mind. For this time, it had come down to a few candidates for some grub while watching the wrestling, and the points were falling well into the favour of Oishii here. After making the decision, I plugged in the order (from what I remember, it was UberEats this time), set it a little later than what was then, and all that was necessary was to sit and wait. It could not be more simple. There is no need to be convoluted this time with customer service; all I need to say is that it all worked well. The cooks in the kitchen were on it promptly, a driver was at the ready at the restaurant in due time, and when it arrived at the house, the food was still hot and ready to eat. Co-operation was in the air, which is something I always like to see. Plus, good food will always have me in a better mood. Again, it is a case where the menu has a nice spread but does not go on for an eternity. It is a hard act to follow, but upon achievement, you will know it. The brunt of the menu is sushi: different styles of rice, the classical nigiri and sashimi, along with fusion rolls. Brainstorming goes on in the kitchen for that alone. If sushi is not your thing, fear not; there are the usual rounds of big meals available. Rice or noodles, take your pick and here come the usual suspects. It was hard to go past some starters, especially with takoyaki and okonomiyaki being on the menu. The former is always a solid way to begin a meal, plus when the chefs are really on their game, they can make the famous pancake something special. When it comes to takoyaki, there is something tricky to pinpoint about it. That something works towards favour this time since the whole morsel is unique it has its own sauce name, for crying out loud. The seafood starter is a partial omelette as well, and when served piping hot, it is a sensation like little other. Okonomiyaki now that is where the game steps itself up. This one was a mixture of vegetables, mostly cabbage, mixed through the pancake batter. Albeit the portion was not exactly huge, it was still solid and satisfying. As for the big meals, it was no tricky feat for my housemate. Every time it is Japanese, I know what will appease him none other than a chicken curry. Katsu or karage, it does not matter, as long as it is the crumbed variety. Short story, he was a happy man this night. When it came to my selection, the final decision fell upon Beef Yakiniku. There is something about yakiniku, particularly in the sauce, that I can't quite put my finger on. It probably comes down to the combination of ingredients, and if it is that, the combination created a unique flavour profile. This sauce was thick and strong yet so delicate on the palate. Plus, it tenderised the beef. That is not even getting into the rest of the meal. The quantity of meat was not lacking, which is a great start every time. There is only one way to improve upon that aspect, and that is by having tender meat. Well, we are so far going on a roll since the beef was not only tender through mere light cooking but via the unique marinade of yakiniku preparation. As well as the meat, there was a generous serving of thick noodles which the sauced hugged closely, and a decent mixture of vegetables we are talking the kind where you can pick them out with your eyes, and not just a vague cabbage mixture. Little else needs to other than these components created a filling meal that went down a treat. Bias blinders will come up undoubtedly when it comes to Japanese cuisine, something I need to admit. Japanese is among the cuisines that have allowed a bar standard set higher than ever in the past. Often hearing you know what you are in for will come across as slightly dismissive, but in this case, I would be surprised if I came across an inferior Japanese eatery even in the shoddiest of shopping centres. A lot of it has to do with the philosophy behind the cuisine, which was ever-present with this meal. The food will fill you up, but not too much. Each portion of food is just right, the cooks measure every proportion in each piece right to the gram, and every time the cooks are on the ball. It could be the teppanyaki place you visit as a special event or the Coke red takeaway in the food court (which is always so popular, yet the line is supersonic), respect to quality never leaves. The point being, Oishii is no exception and therefore wins my respect. The food was fresh and moreish and satisfied me for the night wherever it may reside, with the utmost deference to the cooks its that approach (and several favourites of mine) that have had Japanese win the gold medal. Both of my thumbs are pointing skyward.
