With a new chef the club has had a real boost in diners at the restaurant! But their meal costs are over the fence for what you get! Two of our group had the barramundi for a whopping $34.00 with the fish about 100-150 grams sitting on a huge dump of mashed potato and broccoli broccoli wherevefr you looked! My friend and I chose the excellent chicken parmigiana with a threesome of broccoli (heaps of it!) some squash and zucchini and some pretty dry and tasteless potato chips. The combination of these three veges that do not appeal to everybody kind of spoilt the meals! If, like me, you hate broccoli then your serving shrinks considerably when you take it away .....:. the chef must own a broccoli farm I'm sure ...... But the place remains popular nonetheless though we won't be returning due the murderous prices for average food quality and very small servings with acres of that wretched broccoli!
This place has had a pretty ordinary reputation over the years but a new management team and a new chef seem to be making a difference. This is great as it is one of the very few dining venues around the place with a fabulous outlook over the golf course and Mt Petrie as the backdrop.Added to this bar prices and very reasonable as are the wines and you don't feel like you are in the queue at a mess hall like some other clubs. The fare is clubbish but well prepared, tasty and well presented. The staff are friendly although a bit more polish wouldn't go astray. They have some cracker deals for kids meals late in the week and a supervised plyroom on Friday and Saturday which our grand kids think is a big bonus.Overall, value for money and much improved but check as I don't think the restaurant is open Sunday and Monday nights
Son-in-law (favourite one) is a member and he invited us to dinner for somethingor other. ... probably a birthday, wedding, cremation, or some other happy occasion. The actual restaurant is beautifully positioned overlooking the golf course so it is a really relaxing place to sit after a hard days night. As usual the son-in-law ordered the seafood. ... as usual the son-in-law stated that the seafood was brilliant... mind you... he reckons that the McDonalds seafood special is equally as good....Nothing particularly memorable about the food and it is perfectly fine and probably more than edible. The price was much lower than you would expect from any decent restaurant from Mt Gravatt to Coorparoo.....The restaurant was empty and it shouldn't be because it has terrific vista and should be THE place for the locals to go for a relaxing drink and chat. Just had a thought: the youngest daughter has a double degree. One is in management and the other is Marketing...The oldest daughter has been told to shut up because she keeps telling us how good Pacific Golf Course restaurant could be... blah blah blah.
I went to this restaurant on a Tuesday night for their $12.95 steak, salad, and chips special. It was excellent value for money. I sat on the deck with a view overlooking the golf course, enjoying a pleasant summer breeze while having a drink with friends. The service was good and the steak was tender. It's a great option for a cheap night out when you need a break from cooking.
