Middlesex Cafe - Carlisle

Don’t believe the great reviews for this place. It’s just a greasy spoon. I had breakfast there on a recent Saturday morning while passing through Carlisle. While the service was fine, the food was way below par for a diner. The scrambled eggs were just okay, nothing special, the bacon was greasy and rubbery, and the potatoes were room temperature and plain. The English muffin was untoasted and also room temperature, and the butter that came on the side was margarine. The coffee was exactly what you expect from diner coffee: weak, watery and bland. All this for a mere $13 with tip. Tripadvisor rates this as the top diner in Carlisle and the #6 overall restaurant in the area, but don’t believe it. It’s just crummy diner food, and rather disappointing diner food at that.

Stopped in on October 12 for breakfast. Haven’t been here in 2 year’s. The home fries tasted like they were cooked in old oil. The bacon was overcooked and over moicrowaved, the eggs were very rubbery. Very let down. The pork chop was full of gristle. Absolutely unacceptable! So sad!

Waffle House went to only takeout only at 11:00 am on a Saturday so luckily we found this great place! Tasty classics with high quality ingredients. Christina our server was wonderful and attentive. Glad we have local places like this still! Patronize them when you can!

Food was delicious as always. Staff was friendly and spot on. It is a very welcoming enviroment. 5 stars. Highly Highly recommend. PS dont forget the cheese cake or pies.

A great little gem of a diner. Great service and excellent food. Everything was wonderful. Thank you for a fantastic dinner.
