The menu is extensive, offering a 3-course choice option. The service is friendly, courteous, and prompt, and the food is delicious. We enjoyed the Easy Fried Carrot Cake appetizer, shared by three of us, followed by a tasty Meepok noodle starter and Nasi Goreng mains. The restaurant also caters to vegan/vegetarian and low carb customers, with options like the Beef and Salad Soup, which I found to be scrumptious. The coffee, served black with condensed milk, was a standout. Prices are very reasonable. I highly recommend this place.
I’ve tried the one in Bourke Street so now it was time to try this one in Carlton for lunch today. The special of $16 included five spring rolls and a laksa plus an iced lychee tea. Service was fast and although you have to order at the counter, mine was taken at the table. Unfortunately, I didn’t get the extra roti I asked for. Food was good, although the spring rolls were bland. Laksa plentiful and not too spicy. You can eat inside or out plus there is takeaway. Wheelchair friendly. Kid friendly. Parking is okay.
I stumbled upon a fantastic restaurant on Lygon St. offering affordable street food. My group of four had dinner for under $80. The satay chicken was tender with a delicious dipping sauce, served with 10 skewers. My husband raved about the soft shell chili crab, although unfortunately I couldn't try it due to my allergy. The Hainanese chicken rice was authentic, served with broth and chili sauce. The Nasi Goreng with beef was generously portioned and the meat was tender. We washed it all down with refreshing lemon iced tea. The warm evening on Lygon St transported me back to a Hawker center in Singapore. I will definitely be returning to this restaurant with great service.
My family and I went to this restaurant for Sunday lunch with our two young children. The service was not very attentive and the food was average, though I have had better meals elsewhere. The seating was a bit cramped. Overall, I don't think I will be in a hurry to return to this restaurant.
If I could have given this restaurant a negative rating I would have. I went there with a Singaporean Friend for dinner. It is awful. Neither of us could believe how bad this was. The Chicken Laksa came without any chicken. When we told the restaurant, they apologised and brought out a tiny bowl of chicken to add to the laksa. The chicken was full of gristle. The Singapore Fired Carrot Cake was tasteless other than it was so chewy it tasted like rubber. Neither of us was able to eat the food and we left disappointed and very hungry.
