I'll be back, but probably not regularly. if they want a good coffee in carmel, this is the place to get it. update the original review: I have a lot of their toasted house for espresso, French presse and pour excesses. they do not give up their rustling, which is kind of annoying, but they will tell them that they are all roasted “light to medium”. after experimenting with them they are definitiw light roast — medium is a stretch. they were generally very good for brewed coffee, especially the peru and flower beans. However, I would not recommend any of the drilling for espresso at all. I'm not sure which ones they use for espresso in the load, but I'll go back and have to order a simple shot espresso to compare. if their bores are used for espresso, the taste profile is very fruity and sour (i.e. slightly roasted) I had to my machine approx. 8 degrees higher than usual run and extract boundary line over the loop to avoid the strong acid. some people don't like sour espresso. the best I tried for espresso was honduras, but still not for my pleasure. it is also worth noting that their roastings are very steep compared to somewhat larger roasters. a 10 oz pocket she will run $20, and it will be roasted everywhere before 7 14 days at the time of purchase. in contrast, I can order a 2lb bag copper moon (by lafayette) for the same price, and they will send it to me on the day it was roasted. they also offer a lot more choice of roasting and taste profiles. coppermond, however, has moved for longer and has a more engaged roasting operation. overall, when they go for brew coffee, their roasts are great. if they go for espresso, I would stick to the middle and dark roast they already know well. I am sure that will come there in time, but for now this is how I evaluate their roast. Espresso Setup: rancilio silvia pro deinka mignon
Directly over the baubarrikade on e main st off rangeline, yes the street is open, this wide series a jewel of a coffee shop. if they have tired industrialized coffee, this is a great stop! as the name already says, they roast their own coffee in front of location. the barrista was really fast, even the perfect art to the tip of the latte add and served in a ceramic cup. large atmosphere inside and outside, the terrace is on the west side, so they can get out of the sun if they wish. whether they are looking for a new place, or a place for coffee while they finish some work, this is a great choice and wonderful supplement to midtown carmel.
Good dark roast pour overs They give you choices of beans I picked ElSalvadore Dark roast Service is above and beyond
Great Place I have been a regular at Indie Coffee Roasters for the last 2 years. Not only do they have the best coffee in Carmel by a long shot, but also all their stuff is vey friendly and attentive. Great environment, great place, and great coffee. I just wish they'd open on Sundays!
If your looking for an excellent cup of coffee or espresso this is the right choice. Indie Coffee Roasters does a great job at focusing on quality over quantity and speed. If your looking for something quick, want a lot of sugar and don 't like the taste of good coffee (ie you like Starbucks) then this probably isn 't the place for you. Indie Coffee has excellent coffee and excellent service. The only thing lacking is seating space, which is pretty typical for a lot of coffee shops now a days it seems. Let 's talk coffee. When you go to the counter and ask for a pour over they don 't tell you a rosy profile but a flavor profile. They will tell you We don 't roast to color but to flavor. That 's a powerful statement as the norm is light, medium, or dark. That being said all of their roasts are medium to light but they lean towards the acidic vibe. It 's still super tasty and the baristas all know their stuff as far as flavor profiles go. Tell them flavors you like and they will get you what you like. As far as espresso drinks go, the word that comes to mind is Balanced . They are great at making a balanced latte in that it 's not all milk/foam or all coffee flavored. It 's a silky smooth flavor that keeps you wanting more. The art on top of the flavor is the cherry on top of the drink. It 's beautifully done and clearly crafted by a master. Overall 5/5 for flavor and art. Let 's talk service and atmosphere. As I said before the baristas and staff are all great. They care about what they craft and you as a customer. They know their stuff and they can really help you get the right cup. They also are great at setting a chill atmosphere in that they don 't yell out your name when your coffee is done, they bring it to you even when it 's busy. They will come find you and personally hand it to you, which sets a great environment for quality. The only thing that this place lacks is places to sit. They took over a home to create the place which is a great idea but it limits space because of it. If you are by yourself you will find a spot easily at a bar or something like that but if you are with others it 's hard to find a spot. If you are going with a group, go early or in an off hour if you are looking for a place to sit, otherwise expect to wait for someone to move. This is pretty common as I said before which is unfortunate but also understandable on the business side of things. That being said this place is great and worth the visit if not multiple visits.
