After attending at dinner for a family celebration we had our food delivered and all looked ok. I had ordered gluten free fish and chips which I had cleared with the kitchen could be ordered. When placed on the table I was served gluten free chips with battered fish. After checking with the waitress she confirmed it wasn’t a gluten free dish. As a person who has an intolerance if I had eaten it I would have been unwell, however an anaphylactic would have needed to call an ambulance. Food intolerances are to be taken seriously, not guessed and served. Ps the fish also had a strange taste which in the end made it unappealing to eat and all who ordered it remarked the same.
I dined here for lunch on Wednesday with my Scouting friends celebrating Founders Day). There were 15 of us situated in the Private Dining Room . This room is accessed from the Bistro area the front corner of the building overlooking Koornang Road), and is not far from the bar, the food order counter, and the bathrooms. Apparently this room can accommodate up to 26 people. We ordered our drinks and food at the bar, and meals were delivered into the room. There was no charge for this room today. The food? I had the Asian Chili Beef mild) w steamed rice seniors version for $20). This is a high price for a seniors meal, but the serve was quite large with a good amount of beef, and a decent serve of rice more like a regular main meal. Other meals served on our table included: Open Chicken Souvlaki $28) very nice and a rather large dish; Steak and Cracked Pepper Pie w fluffy mash, smashed peas, vegies and gravy $29) very nice; Lamb Shanks choose 1 for $29 or 2 for $40) quite good; Grilled Vegetarian Quesadillas very good it 's finger food). Don 't forget there is lots of car parking at the rear of the hotel, accessed from several locations including the hotel driveway that runs off the Dandenong Road service road, as well as Koornang Road near the Thirsty Camel drive through bottle shop.
I went there with Denise on Tuesday 10th January 2023 and we both shared the churros with butterscotch sauce together, which was very nice so I would highly recommend them since they melt in your mouth.
We had a decent feed. The food we felt rated from very good to average. The potions were a good size. The service was good. The decor was good too. One point I did not like was as the potions were bigger then expected so we needed a doggy bag. They refused claiming they did not have a takeaway license to supply such a bag. I was shocked and so asked two people with the same exact reply. This is a lie and as such we threw out a lot of food.
