Went here for breakfast with our old riding crew and partners. The site has a lot of great character, very dog friendly. Very friendly service, the food we would say was good (rather than great), coffee was very good and approves very reasonable. So all round, definitely worth a visit.
My wife and I visited in a week day, so there were no problems with large crowds that other reviews have highlighted. The place is huge so seating is not a problem, though the majority of seating is all trendy old lounges and awkward coffee tables that are obviously an effort to create a mood or tone. When I paid $6.50 for a cappuccino I was expecting really service at speed and with a big smile. Didn't happen. You have the opportunity to buy over-priced beer here also - of which a large number are Japanese. Most Japanese that have been here - of which I have close ties to - don't rate the place.
Have been here midweek for breakfast and lunch. Katsu don bowl was an epiphany. The artistic love invested in preparation vastly exceeded the price. This is Newcastle's Ryokan disguised as an industrial grunge cafe. Friendly staff, great vibe. Best kombucha, 5 Japanese beers to pick from, matcha latte and Royal tea.. neo Tokyo in Carrington .
They can be a bit overrun on the weekends, but wonderful service, brunch food with a Japanese twist, and the perfect space for little people to explore. The big fans are mesmerising for wee ones.
