Escapé Rice Cake And Boba - Carrollton

My experience at this restaurant was quite disappointing. I ordered the 3 for $12 deal for rice cakes, and sadly, one of them was spoiled. We returned it, hoping to exchange it and inform the owners in a friendly way. However, they were skeptical of our claim, then tasted it themselves and spat it out in front of us. I'm writing this review to warn others so they don't end up with a stomachache!

Once we were home, my wife prepared some Tteokbokki for dinner, and we all agreed that the texture of the rice cakes was outstanding. Having tried many rice cakes over the years, we can confidently say that Escape Rice Cake and Boba offers some of the best. If you're in need of rice cakes, this is definitely the place to visit. Parking can be a bit challenging, as it’s located within Super H Mart, which is often very crowded.

However, about five minutes later, the woman called back, saying she had tried the other rice cakes at work and found them to be fine. She insisted that we come back to the store to see the issue for ourselves. Since we live 40 minutes away, we really didn’t want to make that trip back and forth, particularly since the woman kept arguing that the rice cakes were okay. If she had just stated upfront that they wouldn’t issue a refund or do anything about it, we wouldn’t have been as upset. But she initially offered a free rice cake and then called back to revoke that offer. It was frustrating because she shouldn’t have made that offer in the first place. Overall, the service was terrible. They claim their rice cakes are fresh, but there have been too many times when they’re stale!

I bought some rice cakes from this store, and they were smelly and as hard as a rock instead of chewy. It seems like they might be selling old products or not keeping things clean. I'm really disappointed.

I always visit this place for their bubble tea! My favorite drink on the menu is the "Java Chip" smoothie. If you enjoy blended coffee beverages, this one is perfect for you. They also have a similar option if you'd rather avoid caffeine—try the "Cookies n' Cream" smoothie instead. The boba texture here isn’t the best (possibly overcooked), but given the affordable pricing, it’s not a major issue. I haven't tried their pastries, but they certainly look delicious. You'll find them inside H-Mart; as soon as you enter, they're on the right side near the produce section.
