Although more liquid inside that expected, the supplied spoon allowed us to finish it off easily. Highly recommended for brunch. The pastry from the cabinet was delicious.
BEST cafe in Wairarapa!Beautiful Food, beautiful place!We dropped by this gorgeous place and after experiencing the incredible food (try the pastries- all of them! And French onion soup , coffee, service and environment we feel this is the BEST cafe in the Wairarapa, but don't take my word for it- go try it out for yourselves ;
Had a birthday lunch for my 88 year old mother had booked earlier and nothing was too much trouble. We had a lovely table by the window dressed with tablecloth and flowers. The food was gorgeous and the desserts heavenly. Even came away with free treats from the bakery. Great service and a charming host. Would definitely come again.
Lovely hidden secret in Carterton. Truly authentic French, with the best pastries outside of France. Loved our visit to this little treasure in small town New Zealand
Mirabelles is a good restaurant an important part to Wairarapa's food scene. Without it the area would be much diminished. Unlike anywhere else significant in the Wairarapa, Mirabelles is based upon French Bistro cuisine. As such, and like French bistro in general, Mirabelles is not perfect, but it is very good. It has a lovely warm, slightly quirky atmosphere, a Maitre'd (and cook's husband) perfect for the job, it is perfectly cosy in the evening and it is probably a good idea to book.Ive been perhaps five or six times and each time thought that the food isn't perfect, its not attempting to be, but is good French based cooking that is comforting, honest and homely. Its not fussy, overworked or pretentious just good food.I remember some wines French oddities recommended by the Maitre'd that were entirely appropriate, I remember his daughters who served with beautiful names, and I remember his wife, the cook, very occasionally visible through the kitchen door on whose skill Mirabelle's relies. This is a good restaurant and Carterton is lucky to have it.
