Feedback gevenAfter several years as usual Customer, this year Central Vila reached the bottom. Chips tasting to fish, cuttlefish badly cooked, a menu full of pizza's and hamburgers... Well, we won't return unless there's a management change in place. The restsurant is a shadow of last year's.The place still look really nice but the good was left behind.
We were trying to go to Sal's but it was closed and we found this place on the list. At first we said no due to the negative reviews but we figured we'd give it a chance. The server was very friendly and spoke great English. My wife ordered this black spaghetti with shrimp, I had streak with fries & rice and our daughter had the cheese pizza. It was good food and we got take away from what we couldn't finish. The only downside was that they didn't have any wine by the glass so we ended up buying a bottle of wine but it was very good wine so no real complaints there. So if you're reading all the bad reviews, I don't think you need to be afraid!
We had a lovely meal here, the waitress was helpful (as we speak very little Portuguese) and professional, and the food (we had a steak with cream and mushroom and a 'secreto' - pork) was really really very tasty - best we've had in Portugal so far. The rice and chips were excellent, and the salad was fresh. There was a wait for food - maybe twenty minutes, half an hour - but as we were the only ones in the restaurant we could hear the activity in the kitchen - it was being cooked from fresh. The prices were more than reasonable (although all our food experiences in Portugal have seemed cheap to us) - including the beer we had. We were charged for the bread and butter we were brought (1€ for each) and there were a few flies and mosquitoes around, but that was more than offset by the beautiful decor as far as we were concerned! Great food and pretty good service, what's not to like? As I say, we were the only ones in, perhaps that helped, perhaps they've got better!
