Was surprised to return after 20 years and yes no more Bear Steakhouse, No big pieces of Steak you can enjoy, was a big let down. They should really change the name to Bear Asian House, because that's basically it. Price was great and service was fine. I just wished it was real steak like before. Oh well its back to the pub steaks which are huge. Will go here again but not to enjoy any steak.<br/ <br/ <br/ Food : 6<br/ Service : 7<br/ Atmosphere : 8
I really wasn't sure about what to expect when coming here, but on a Sunday night at 6.30pm the place was buzzing.<br/ <br/ The structure of the restaurant is just gorgeous. The lighting and all the wooden beams. Very rustic<br/ <br/ While the staff were clearly very busy, they couldn't have been nicer and the food was amazing. The Shredded Duck Fried Rice and Mongolian Beef a major highlight. Great prices and really fantastic value. I don't mind paying for quality and I honestly think the prices were insanely good. Thank you Bear House we will be back!
Didn’t know they did deliveries so when I saw they did we decided to give them a try and was very happy the food is a little over priced but you don’t mind paying a bit more for food that’s tasty. It was a great treat
The Bear House Restaurant is my husband and my go to place for Chinese food. We discovered it when we first moved to the area and were looking for something to have for dinner one lazy Monday. We actually went there on the first Monday they opened they had previously only been open Tuesdays to Sundays, and it was very quiet because no one knew they had started to open on Mondays!<br/ <br/ It would surprise you, if you weren't aware, that this is an Asian cuisine restaurant. I believe it previously used to be a steak house (judging by the older reviews and the decor certainly represents that, in fact, it shouts it! However, the atmosphere kind of works for an Asian restaurant. I don't know why, but it does. It was a very cold winter's night the first time we visited so we sat next to a crackling fireplace, which gave the restaurant a really nice, cosy ambience. <br/ <br/ There's a lovely woman who works there, she is very friendly and provides great customer service she is the embodiment of that slightly eccentric aunt with the jocularity of your favourite dad joke comedian. <br/ <br/ Now, the food here is pretty good. We've had a couple of dishes that missed the mark, but most of what we've tried were a delight on our tongues! Our particular favourites are the sesame prawn toast (it's packed with prawn meat! , garlic spare ribs, butter prawns, sweet and sour pork, and the shredded duck fried rice. <br/ <br/ Another dish also worth noting is their laksa I tried that for the first time recently and it was everything you'd want from a laksa and more! Usually, I find restaurants are quite scarce when it comes to the prawns in a laksa, but we shared this dish between 3 and it was plenty. The broth had the perfect amount of spiciness to it (if you are into mild medium level of chilli and the spice to coconut ratio was perfect. Great dish for a cold day! <br/ <br/ The only (minor issue that I have is with the pricing some of the dishes, although scrumptious, have pricetags attached to them that are a little above their worth and quantity. It's not a real problem if you're only popping in for a sporadic treat, which is what we do! Other than that, I'd definitely recommend a visit if you're in the area.<br/ <br/ [hidden link]
