We came too late for lunch and too early for dinner. had a beer and went away to eat somewhere. good location
Went here on a recent cool rainy evening with my family of five. The owners were very friendly and helpful with our poor French. Our meals were excellent, duck, fish of the day, the K'soulet. We were able to taste the wine before ordering which...was helpful to us as Americans with not much wine knowledge. The atmosphere in the lock keeper's cottage was so quaint- we enjoyed our meal thoroughly. We had booked ahead and were glad we did because the tiny place filled up fast. We came back a few days later to have a drink on the terrace by the canal and were delighted to find that they had some local French beer. Highly recommended!
I have passed this resto many times on my bike but never stopped, mostly because the place is always packed. By chance, a friend suggested we go on a bank holiday. Luckily we got there just before midday and got a seat. We chose the...menu at 29 euros and a main course(souris d 'agneau). The starter for the main was copious with an excellent foie gras, charcuterie and gherkins. Monsieur went inside to taste the wine and came out with an very good Collioures Manya Puig. They don 't offer you a second plate to share the starter which would have easily been enough for 2 people. The souris d 'agneau was cooked perfectly (too much sauce for my liking), plus a spoonful of well cooked vegetables and a healthy portion of gratin dauphinoise. The 'coin coin ' portion of duck seemed small in comparison but was in fact enough for one person. I opted out of the dessert but my partner chose the poire william ice cream with corresponding alcohol it was perfect. Two cafes to follow and the bill was 77 euros. A lovely situation, and we had the feeling we had eaten well but a bit too much. Luckily, the canal is nearby and you can work off a bit of the foie gras afterwards. Would go again but would ask to share portions don 't think this would go down well with the waiter with glasses who seemed a bit pissed off with any question posed! But don 't hesitate it 's a great place to eat.
L'écluse de Castanet c'est la champion's league! Nous nous sommes régalé avec la salade Gascone, le confit de canard et la souris d'agneau!Le cadre au bord de l'eau est vraiment parfait!;)On recommande !
