We went there as a group of four. Reservation strongly recommended on weekends. The place is adjacent to the winery Castel Juval of Reinhold Messner. This influence is (sort of) obvious with respect to the interiors, that are clearly a mix of regional south-Tyrolean style and some items from Mr. Messners alipnists days in Tibet/Himalaya. The surrounding over all is just really nice. We were seated outside in a little garden that looked more like a real nice garden than the classic patio for a restaurant. The food: Classic regional food of clearly above average quality. Both, the ingredients and the preparation were pretty good. The optics/arrangement on the plates had a nice touch as well. We had a broad mix of the menu, but especially the quality of the cote de boeuf (from veal) and the herb-dumplings stood out as did the dessert... Wine: Really nice menu of local wines. Tip: have a designated driver ready. Getting a cab is kind of iffy up there...
Really an experience to remember. We love authentic old wood interiors and wholes cottages and this is the case. You will find an excellent service provided by restaurant renter the owner is Mr. Messner), simple but delicious food including sweets which you get nowhere else e.g. Vinschger Schneamilch) and a tasty wine from R. Messner. There is absolutely to trust that all the food and the wine come from in-house production. At last you can see by own eyeball all the animals, the kitchen herbs and spices and the grapevine on farm next door. Additional we had good luck as we met d.R.Messner and got easy his autograph. He is really a nice man whom we respect not only for his sports results in former times but also for all his todays work.
