I asked if they had any local beers on the top and got a clue about how I should go into a microbrewery if that's what I want, and that... they're storing the beers to drink their locals. Never that I was the only person in it could have just said that we have these okanagon sources. No good start. The food was rather sad spent too long in the deep frit that is never great. Menu is quite standard pub tariff. They also calculate $7 for an undersized pint of crappy masses produced beer, so I would definitely take place on a microbrewery or LionsHead.
Big little Castlegar secret. Well visited by locals and by a fabulous pair they lead standard bar fair. Portions are generous and the ingredients are good. Feels like eating at a relative with a well-stocked bar. I recommend pizza and tacos.
During our visit to the area for skiing, we decided to try out this pub which was conveniently located just a few minutes away from our hotel. We were looking for a new dining experience every night during our stay and we weren't disappointed! The pub is situated on the main stretch in downtown, making it easily accessible for us after a day on the slopes. The service was exceptional, and Steve, our server, was a delight. He was quite the character and reminded us of Neil from the Brown Derby in Armstrong or the folks who ran Nick's place in Nakusp. Some may find an outgoing person like Steve to be either loved or not, but we thoroughly enjoyed our time with him. Our group of 8 was seated at two tables, but the service was prompt and friendly. The food arrived quickly and was incredibly tasty. I tried the chorizo pizza which was loaded with jalapeños and meat - absolutely delicious! We also had the pleasure of meeting Sam and Dave, who were both locals and added a funny touch to our evening. And let's not forget to mention the impeccable cleanliness of the floors - they were by far the cleanest I have ever seen in a restaurant.
I recently dined at this restaurant with a friend for lunch. I ordered the famous fish tacos while my friend got the yam fries. Unfortunately, both dishes were quite disappointing. The food was edible, but lacked flavor and was overly crispy. The service was slow, with the owners seeming more interested in chatting with regular customers than attending to us. There were long periods of time where we were left unattended at our table, both between ordering drinks and food, and when we asked for the bill. The hygiene standards were also concerning, as staff (owners) were not consistently wearing masks and I witnessed one of the servers handling food after eating without washing their hands. Overall, the experience was subpar and I would not recommend this restaurant.
This restaurant is one of my top burger spots and they also have delicious gravy that pairs well with their fries!
