We visited this restaurant on a warm summer evening. A reservation had been made by our B&B. The first impression was not very positive. There was no one to receive us and then the waiter disappeared for about ten minutes for a phone call. However, after this slow start everything turned out well. The restaurant offers attractive menus for € 23 and € 27, which proved to be excellent value. As a starter we had "Aumoniere de Canard" and also the lamb shank as a main dish turned out to be an excellent choice. The dishes were laid out attractively on the plates and the food was served at a good temperature. The restaurant itself is in an attractive old building near the city centre. We told the B&B owner that it would be safe to recommend this restaurant to other guests.
Were recommended this place as our hotel had no restaurant. Style is medieval-industrial. The aperitif flute of champagne was Nicholas Feuillatte so they scored points from the off. We opted for the menu at 27€ which began with a roast scallop and fennel crème which was a new twist, unexpected and delicious. The main was lamb shank with roast vegetables, sauté potatoes and Gaelic mash. This presented extremely well, the lamb falling off the bone, almost a confit. Wonderful. The wine list was mainly of interesting regional items and the one e chose,a red from Gaillac, perfectly married both the scallops and the lamb. Thoroughly recommended. The front of house was friendly and helpful and the kitchen is obviously staffed with skilled enthusiasts. Inexpensive, good quality, original product all round.
The restaurant is attractive and there is a nice atmosphere. However the menu is over ambitious - attempting a sophistication that it struggles to achieve - and the wine list falls short of the food menu's aspirations.
The restaurant has some good French cuisine if you like it. do try desserts and it also serves nice wine. I requested them to ask the chef to make some dish of chicken and it was made (out of menu). I liked it!
