We got there at 7:40pm, they close at 8 pm. Three of the associates looked at the clock when we walked in and huffed. They were cleaning up as if they had closed. They had several people in restaurant eating. The food was excellent, and the outdoor seating had a beautiful view. The tables were all sticky, and it felt kind of dirty. While we were outside, still eating, the girl asked to take out ketchup, I wasn't finished, but she took it anyway. She had already put away napkins and salt and pepper shakers. If the restaurant doesn't close until 8, you service customers till 8, and that means don't clean up or remove things. They had emptied trash and asked us not to use outside trash. And we're not nice about it. It was a Wednesday evening, but that shouldn't matter. They should start cleaning after all customers are gone. It's rude and disrespectful. They were rushing us to eat and get out. There were probably 5 other families in the restaurant.
We saw some YouTube videos that recommended Jolly Rogers Seafood House. It was DELICIOUS! It was SO much cheaper compared to the restaurant that we ate at on Put-in-Bay. There was a line, but the employees had great teamwork moving the line quickly. I tried the highly recommended lobster bisque. It was the best that I ever had, but it was good! You can't go to Lake Erie without having Walleye or Perch, so of course, I tried the Perch sandwich. Perch was so tender not too fishy tasting. I loved it!!
Party of 6 on a busy day, big line but it kept moving. Food came out in a timely manner but the food... disappointing. All the food was barely luke warm, fries cold. Perch was tasteless and limp. Batter was thin and soggy. Everybody was a bit deflated after several bites. Fish tacos were an absolute disaster. Lots of leftovers but no desire among us to doggie-bag any of it. Several commented that they could've had fresher, tastier, and much cheaper fish next door at the Big Boy restaurant. Btw... our bill was $170 plus tip for 6 people.
If your going for casual dining, fried fish and seafood, Jolly Roger's has an array worthy of ant sea lovers delight. Stick with one portion, as it's too large..can never go wrong with the walleye or perch, shrimp and chips was fresh and bountiful. Wonderful view of Lake Erie, enjoyed sitting outside with a breeze off the water.
