We ordered the bistronome menu (26 euro) the waitress wasn’t friendly and when we didn’t ordered any bottle of wine (as I recall close to 30 euro) or any glas of wine (priced 8-12 euro) the waitress got close the edge of rudeness. The food was so far below any other restaurant quality we visited in this area. We simply don’t understand such high TA ranking of this restaurant for us again full disconnect with TA ratings.Starter Melon with ham, Melon was not fully ripe and much too cold served. Main course, Rable de lapin (‘looked like a rabbit sausage”). The flavor was very very bad and vegetables and mashed potatoes cold and without any flavor. I was hungry that’s why I finished the dish…but I should have returned the dish since it was uneatable. My wife had the brochette de crevette, all 3 small scampi’s were overcooked (it’s like eating rubber) Dessert, the chocolate desert, turned out like eating a jar of warm choco pasta together with low quality ice-creamThe bad food quality together with the close to rude behavior of the waitress made it by far worse restaurant dining experience we had in many years.Would we return: NO way
We dine here regularly and have never been disappointed. We usually have 3 courses but most times I have 2 as I can't fit a dessert. We have tried a variety of dishes from fish to steaks and we are always satisfied.David's knowledge of wines of the region is vast and we usually take wine by the glass so we can experience some of his recommendations throughout the meal, by doing this we've made some interesting discoveries! I've eaten supions here a few times and never been ill. When you see supions a la persillade they are NOT crunchy, not in any restaurant so I disagree with a previous comment, and I have never been ill after eating here.Highly recommended!
It looked all very pleasant, sitting outside with a glass of wine and good company. We ordered the small squid (called supions) which are normally crisp with a taste of garlic. These were soft and a bit smelly, but it was just a starter. We were looking forward to the Japanese salad which looked very attractive when it hit the table: a combination of sashimi, salad and soja sauce. The taste was ok but not refined at all but edible. The problem started about two hours later.. I would not say it was food poisening but it was close.. For 48 hours it was reminded of this Japanese salad in Cavaillon and decided that next time i'll just have a sandwich.
We have visited the Cavaillon / Isle sur la Sorgue area several times in the past and (usually) had meals that were never less than really enjoyable. We chose this restaurant largely because of its good reviews here. Sadly we were disappointed as it fell some way short of our expectations and hopes. For most of our meal - on a Monday evening - we were the only customers. On arriving, we sat at a table in the window and read the menu. There were some words that we did not understand [eg what is a Tartare?]; the explanation was rapid and complex and we did not learn much from it - no concession to any lack of fluency in French Cuisine! The service from the owner (??) was just about acceptable but not friendly, especially as it seemed we were not effusive enough about the main course of rabbit. Also our choice not to have a bottle of wine (with a hire car) went down badly. After we had finished, the bill appeared instantly. Five minutes or so later with only one other table occupied, he arrived with a card machine and a clear indication that it was now time for us to go.Would we go back? With the wide variety of options, I have to say "No". Sad, but these reviews have to be honest if they are of any value, and the ranking of "David et Louisa" is, in our opinion, nowhere near justified.
