Located in the remote town of Barcaldine, Em's at The Shakespeare offers a surprisingly gourmet dining experience in contrast to the typical Aussie pub food you might expect. Despite its unassuming menu featuring traditional dishes like rump steak and chicken parmigiana, Em's also offers more sophisticated options like lamb shanks and lamb ragu. The friendly and welcoming staff serve up dishes with impressive finesse and delicacy, such as a delicious mixed leaf salad or a savory potato bake. We were so impressed that we jokingly considered delaying our departure just to dine here again. Overall, Em's at The Shakespeare exceeded our expectations and we will definitely be back.

However, upon closer inspection, items like lamb shanks and lamb ragu add a touch of sophistication to the menu. The staff at Em's are friendly and welcoming, and the standard menu items are executed with finesse and attention to detail. Instead of the expected basic salad or veggies, diners are treated to a delicious mixed leaf salad with cherry tomatoes and assorted veggies, or a flavorful potato bake and grilled vegetables. The quality of the food exceeded expectations, prompting thoughts of returning for another meal despite the long drive ahead. I will definitely be back.
