Le Chai - Chalon-sur-Saône

I accidentally walked in. excellent food for a light lunch and a bottle of wine. the personal was friendly. will be coming back in any case!

Maybe our poor French have made it hard to connect, but we just haven't welcomed or appreciated. no statement of the menu, no check-up, no smile, no welcome. no effort from the personal. pity, eating and crying. Very good.

Visited on the first stage of the journey to return to blighty. very hot day, very bad traffic and in the necessity of a relaxing meal. had not booked that is unambiguously a cardinal sin in france and so had to be a little away from the main square....After the reference trip advisor we le chai b=down a side street that was object of roadwork that was a shame, but at least seemed to have it meant that it was not much traffic. we have secured a table that was a bit sad as we would have preferred to sit outside. while tables were available, two tables were occupied by people who think that all food should be smoked! Anyway, the inner was very cool and quiet. we went from the specials where there is a good choice of local dishes. the wine selection was also good and we ordered a cheap red that was great. eating was excellent and very good value for money. if we visit the opposite again, I don't think we'd hesitate to see this facility that knows, the road could be sorted by then. I would like to recommend this place.

We have booked a table for 4 at le chai on recommendation of a friend and were not disappointed! the restaurant is located in a picturesque street directly at the main square. we loved the elegant bistro style interieur and the wine line is incredible! the cook is clearly very talented; everything we ordered was divine. the waiting staff was friendly and professional and the chef himself visited every table at the end of the service to chat with the girls. a very charming experience that you should not miss in chalon.

On our way to our skiholiday we always have a stop in Chalon. The last 3 times with a dinner at le chai. The lovely staff even remembers us from last year. We had a wonderfull dinner again and great wine. We will be back...next year. We recomment this restaurant for a very nice evening.
