The restaurant has a good selection of local dishes on the menu and everything I ordered was delicious. We usually start with the nachos, which come in a generous portion. The locals seem to enjoy the food as well.
Driving back and forth from Santa Fe to Colorado, I needed to find a place to eat where there also was shade to keep my kitty from roasting in the van. Eastily found that across the alley from Foster's, so I wound up eating there twice. The first meal, a burrito was good enough but not the best I'd ever had. I'd give that 3 stars. Second visit, I decided to try a patty melt and fries, which were excellent. Service was good too, so I'll stop there again on my next trip to Colorado.
The rooms need updating but their cleaning staff is top notch, thanks Connie! They also have tasty food, thanks Mark Felecia! Then there's a cool old cowboy bar from the 1800's, with money stuck on the ceiling, a pool table, jukebox and usually some colorful locals to chat with and all rolled up with outstanding service, thanks Cameron, Phil and Michelle!
A solid option for dinner if you're staying in Chama for several days. Be sure and check out their website and maybe even call to see if they'll be open, currently the website says they serve breakfast lunch and dinner from 11:30 am to 7:00 pm and are closed on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Got that? They serve a wide range of American and Mexican dishes; we had the latter. The consensus was that it was good; nothing spectacular but it certainly satisfied our hunger.
We didn't stay at the hotel but went to the diner inside. SUPER slow service, we were there almost 2 hours and the food was not cooked to order. We almost walked out, will never eat here again.
