If you look at the menu, you can't help wonder Do you joke?! ... 17 euros for a salad, 8.10 euros for a beer, 4.40 for a coffee with milk and so on. We only took two soft drinks, spend almost as much as... one night on the campsite. I don't understand why they manage such an expensive restaurant in front of one of the cheapest campsites at all? I would understand if it was in the middle of a city, but there you are in the middle of nowhere and I would rather have a picnic to enjoy nature than spending all my money in a common restaurant. Also one night, after closing the restaurant, someone came out of the back door and used a bush as a toilet, even if it was right next to our car (and we inside! and the camping toilet was just four meters away. Of course he didn't wash his hands. No, we never go there again.
If you have the brilliant idea, a break or a longer holiday in the French region of La Vanoise, near Pralognan or Champagny en Vanoise, for experienced hikes or the discovery of the mountains and their beloved inhabitants (Chamois, Adler, Falks, Groundhogs... , we recommend... to stop for lunch, dinner or just a break in the restaurant Canada in Champagny le Haut. The restaurant is located a few km east of Champagny en Vanoise (either by car or walk 1 hour partly in a beautiful forest, near le Bois, near the shelter with the same name, and at the entrance of the campsite Canada, marked clearly from the road. You will find a sunny and quiet terrace (with parasols or a typical charming garden house, with clean toilets. The owner will give you the great menu from a la carte and menus (also for children who can later play on playgrounds a few meters away, and let yourself enjoy the view or have a ride on wallets outside the campsite on the refuge. An impressive selection list is offered by local specialties (Crosette = Pest from Savoie, Fondue, ... or more Traditional recipes (Entrecote, Salate or originalinale (Ente mit Mangosauce...). The freshness and the balanced compositions of the ingredients are very large. We loved the salad savoyarde, consisting of green salad, warm potato pieces, tomatoes, egg, dry ham and dices of local cheese (15.5 euros). It may seem simple, but so good salad is actually hard to find! The desserts are simply delicious and with some originalities and mix freshness, lightness and sweetness. If you prefer ice creams, you have a long list to choose from. There is a wine card or many other drinks to dry your thirst. The service is efficient and pleasant. If you want to have great tips about local and not so local hikes, ask the owner who used to have a refuge on a mountain valley opposite the restaurant. In summary, this restaurant offers delicious quality, good service and a local touch at a reasonable price. Definitely worth a visit or a detour! It runs every day in summer and winter and the week ends otherwise. We found it accidentally after a hike and returned two days after. We were both happy.
Disappointed not to have found the former owner because we had a lot of food with savoyed dishes we found a restaurant with hamburger either! well but not typical owners not very friendly they all **** each other
Returned after 18 years because very far from home but still as delicious. thank the chef for celebrating our taste buds with alp flavors
