The red rice was fantastic! It had just the right amount of flavor from the sausage and onion, and I appreciated that it was a bit softer than usual. The small portion may seem small, but they packed it in well, so there was actually more than it appeared. The mac and cheese was slightly greasy, but still very tasty. I suspect they use a blend of cheeses because it had great depth of flavor. Like the rice, it was also generously packed in the container. The highlight was definitely the beef brisket sandwich. I recommend asking for a sample before ordering. The brisket pieces are thickly cut rather than thinly sliced. The sauce they use is tomato-based, which gives it a lighter consistency than traditional BBQ sauce, but I enjoyed that. They offered to add extra sauce to our sandwich, which we accepted. The sandwich itself contained just the brisket, keeping things simple, and I absolutely loved it. There is a small seating area on the other side of the glass doors.

Food for the Southern Soul catered my wedding, and we had shrimp and grits that were absolutely fantastic. I want to acknowledge their remarkable efforts in still providing food for us during Hurricane Joaquin. Everything was amazing!
