Previously, it had generous chunks of brisket mixed in with the hash browns, but this time, there were only very dry, thin slices of brisket under the hash browns, which was quite disappointing. I did share my concerns with the server.
I usually prefer not to complain, but my experience at this restaurant was simply unacceptable. We arrived for lunch at 11:25 and waited 20 minutes to be seated, which I could understand on a Saturday. However, once we were seated, we ended up waiting until 12:50 for our food. We had ordered two omelettes, along with a side of bacon and some sausage links for the kids, so I really can't fathom why it took over an hour for our meals to arrive. When the food finally came, it was undercooked – my daughter's sausage links were still pink inside. Our waiter did apologize and took the omelettes off the bill, but honestly, the wait was just not worth it. I'm very disappointed.
I started with the fries, which were wonderfully crispy and paired perfectly with the sauce. Everything seemed promising until I took my first bite of the burger. It crunched like a cookie, which was a surprise. I thought it might have been a burnt fry, but after taking another bite, I discovered that the inside was a dark gray while the outside looked like blackened chicken. It seemed to be about five minutes overcooked. I understand that mistakes happen, especially in a busy restaurant—you would think it would be busy at that hour, but I was the only customer in the place at 1 PM. When the server came to check on my meal, I mentioned that the burger was burnt to the point of being inedible. She simply said, "Oh! Sorry about that," and walked away. A couple of minutes later, she returned with the check. When I approached the front to settle the bill, I told her I had taken only one and a half bites of the burger, and it was essentially inedible. Her response was, "Oh man, that’s terrible. Just slide your card in right there," indicating the card reader. I reminded her again that I was paying for a burger I hadn’t eaten. She replied with a nonchalant "Yeah," and I noticed someone else peeking around the counter but they didn’t approach. Then the cashier headed off into the kitchen, leaving me feeling quite disregarded. Afterward, I went back inside to ask if I could take a photo for my review. The server kindly held out the plate for me, and I managed to snap a picture of the truly delicious caramelized onions on top of the burger. It was a terrible experience overall, especially since I live on Beaver Island, and this was my only chance to have a meal off the island. What a huge disappointment.
This place is as fresh as it gets. Breakfast was delicious the staff works hard to keep you happy. Don?t miss the little gem on your next visit. They do keep very busy so plan accordingly will definitely visit again.
Asked for bacon, then received burnt bacon that snapped like bark. This wasn?t a big issue, we just asked to have it sent back and have regular bacon. We were told ?that?s just how we cook our bacon? so I reworded my request as, ?can I have more ?limp?bacon then?? We then received bacon that was Undercooked(most likely because the the kitchen wanted it out in a timely manner, but didn?t quite wait long enough for it to be safe for consumption . The server placed the bacon where it was hanging from theplate and the food was touching the table.. we figure she was probably in a rush, I understand mistakes happen. We decided toskip the bacon and eat the rest of our food(eggs and hash brown that were GREAT and made well!! . When she returned, we asked tohave the bacon taken off of our meal as we didn?t feel safe eating it and preferred to just not eat it at this point, and askedfor the bill. While I was still eating the eggs and hash browns on my plate, she then grabs the plate of bacon and places it ONTOP OF FOOD and takes our plates away saying, ?if you don?t want your bacon over cooked then specifically ask for ?not crispy?bacon next time.? And left.. maybe I?m crazy as is every breakfast restaurant I?ve been to/WORKED AT, but not specificallyasking for crispy bacon means you get regular bacon. The standard isn?t burnt? Will not return.
