American Deli - Charlotte

It seems that every time my son goes to this place, our orders end up being wrong. The last time I visited, I ordered honey hot wings, which is supposed to be hot wings with honey sauce. Instead, I just received wings drenched in honey. Where does that even happen? It seems like they prepare what they think you wanted, even though I’m pretty sure that’s not what’s on the menu. On a positive note, when they get the order right, the food is genuinely good. I'm from Atlanta, and that's the only reason I keep coming back to American Deli.

We arrived at 6:30 PM on Sunday night, and were greeted at the door by a staff member who told us they were closed. Apparently, the last customer took the last of their wings, and they had shut off the grill, even though their posted hours clearly state they are open until 7 PM. Does it really take half an hour to cook some wings and a salad? Even with a typical 15-minute wait, it wouldn’t have even been 7 PM if she had taken my order! I'm really disappointed because I was looking forward to their lemon pepper wings and fried chicken salad from American Deli after a long, stressful day. The unprofessionalism I encountered was frustrating, and now I’m left hungry! I didn’t want wings from anywhere else – I was set on those wings, and this situation completely ruined the rest of my day!

I was initially let down by the lack of dine-in options, but what disappointed me even more was the cleanliness of the store. It was quite dirty, and I don't think I'll be returning to this location. They do have some equally unkempt tables outside if you prefer not to go with carryout.

Only get one star because the young lady behind the counter was very sweet. If not for that I Woolf give zero. I ordered the Rueben and wings combo. Wings were soooooo tiny and fried hard could barely eat any of the little bit of meat. The Rueben meat was kind of tough and just not enjoyable. Fries were good though. And also saw a roach crawling around after I had already taken a few bites of food. Yea not impressed and won?t be back.

I was initially disappointed that they didn't offer any dine-in options, but I was even more dismayed by how dirty the area was. I don't think I'll be returning to this place. They also have dirty tables outside the restaurant, which makes it clear they don't seem to care about cleanliness.
