Every entree and appetizer we've tried over the past year have also been great, and the service is top notch. Just Wish a small salad was included with their entrees. I’m so glad this hidden gem is close by.
Had fun with my fiance , daughter and her boyfriend Saturday night. Place was busier than I 've ever seen it, but the waitstaff worked valiantly to keep drinks filled and bread on the table. Frank really worked the crowd, had a very smooth voice and made the experience a little unique.
We supported Angela's through the worst of the pandemic shutdown mostly ordering take out pizza. Since things have gotten a bit better, we've been several times. The last time might have been the Last Time. It was loud. Our waiter was incredibly inattentive. The food was average, at best. Then to top it all off, we ordered soda and when we were finally able to get his attention, we asked the waiter for refills. One refill each. And when he brought the bill he had charged us full price for the refills as well as the original drinks. So we bought two fountain sodas one refill each $10! If the service had been better ... if the food had been better ... maybe I could've overlooked this monstrosity. But $10 for 2 sodas and poor food and bad service? No. Just ... No.
We went to Angela’s for dinner with neighbor’s last night. They recently moved to Charlotte from out of state and had heard about it and wanted to try it. We read reviews and found that it is under new ownership and some reviews were good, some bad, as reviews usually are. A review is someone’s opinion on a particular day. So let me start off by saying that the reason for my 3 stars is because the seat I had to sit on was ripped and looked dirty inside (something I hate anywhere, it’s just nasty looking and you don’t know what’s inside), and the ladies restroom was not clean – always a good sign someone doesn’t care about the restaurant. Okay, back to the nitty gritty…I did notice right away that the look of the restaurant was different. It was brighter with red checkered table cloths, and there were booths as you come in at the door. The restaurant itself looked clean, but the sanitation grade is a 90. The last inspection was in April with six red violations, all of which can make you sick; I don’t know when the new owners took over. Anyway, back to the food. It took awhile before our server came to take our orders, and a long time before the food finally arrived. Our neighbor, V, ordered spaghetti with meatballs, my husband ordered pizza, M ordered penne primavera, and I ordered penne al a vodka. I liked my dish, it had a nice creamy texture and the flavor was good. I’ve had better, but this certainly was not bad. M liked her penne primavera, and V said his spaghetti was good, although I couldn’t tell if he meant it or not, he didn’t “look” like he meant it. My husband said his pizza was good, better than a new place we’d recently tried. I ate a slice after we got home and it did taste good. All in all, we enjoyed dinner as we sat and talked, but they will need to get that grade up to at least 95 before we go back.
Have had on and off service in the past but this meal was great from the chicken parmigiana for my husband to the pizza for me. Great.
